Epic Physician Billing Analyst (Professional Billing)

The Opportunity

We are seeking a specialized Epic Physician Billing Analyst (Professional Billing) to lead the configuration, optimization, and maintenance of the Epic Professional Billing (PB) module. In this critical role, you will ensure the integrity of the healthcare revenue cycle, managing the complex workflows that translate clinical services into accurate patient billing and maximum reimbursement for healthcare providers.

As a Mid-Senior level professional, you will bridge the gap between financial operations and IT, ensuring that the Resolute Professional Billing module is finely tuned to meet the specific business needs of a high-volume healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities

Revenue Cycle Configuration & Maintenance

• System Architecture: Lead the configuration and customization of the Epic Professional Billing application, including the Charge Router, Benefit Engine, and Workqueue structures.

• Lifecycle Management: Build, test, and migrate system changes to production, ensuring seamless updates and maintenance of the Resolute PB module.

• Vendor Integration: Manage and optimize workflows for external collection agencies and statement processing vendors.

Workflow Optimization & Strategic Analysis

• Efficiency Design: Analyze existing financial workflows to identify bottlenecks and implement "leading practice" solutions that enhance departmental efficiency.

• Stakeholder Collaboration: Act as a strategic liaison between Finance, IT, and clinical leadership to ensure the Epic system aligns with evolving business operations.

Expert Support & Troubleshooting

• Technical Lead: Act as the primary point of contact for end-users, troubleshooting complex errors related to claims processing, reimbursement, and claim scrubbers.

• EMR Integration: Support the integration of revenue cycle processes within the broader Epic EMR ecosystem.

• On-Call Support: Provide expert troubleshooting and resolution during rotating on-call shifts.

Compliance, Training & Innovation

• Regulatory Oversight: Ensure system compliance with industry transitions (e.g., X12 4010 to 5010) and coding standards (CPT, ICD-10).

• Knowledge Transfer: Educate end-users on PB workflows and develop comprehensive internal documentation and procedures.

• Release Management: Assess the impact of new Epic releases and provide strategic recommendations for the implementation of new features.

Required Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field.

• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in Healthcare IT or Revenue Cycle management.

• Certification: Current Epic Professional Billing (PB) Certification is mandatory.

• Industry Knowledge: Deep expertise in medical billing codes (CPT, ICD-10), insurance procedures, and the specific nuances of professional vs. hospital billing.

Necessary Skills

• Technical Mastery: Advanced proficiency in Epic PB modules, including Workqueue configuration, Benefit Engines, and Estimates.

• Analytical Problem Solving: Ability to troubleshoot complex financial data discrepancies and system errors.

• Communication: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to translate technical billing configurations into clear business outcomes for stakeholders.

• Tools: Expert proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Visio, and Project.

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary Range: $121,000 – $150,000 (Based on experience)

• Work Environment: A hybrid model offering the flexibility of remote work alongside the collaborative benefits of an on-site presence in Hicksville, NY.
