1-YEAR EMPLOYMENT CONTRACT, RENEWABLE

EpiGentek is a New York-based biotechnology company that focuses on developing and providing innovative technologies, services, and products as a complete and systematic solution for epigenetic related research and drug discovery. Located on beautiful Long Island, with its sandy beaches and fresh bagels, EpiGentek sits less than an hour train ride away from the heart of midtown Manhattan.

We are currently seeking a web developer with PHP skills to build, improve, and maintain our e-commerce platforms and cloud applications. You will be working with our various departments to implement and integrate functions that would help improve operational efficiency, marketing strategies, as well as customer interaction.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Program and improve web software and functionalities to improve efficiency in company operations (primarily PHP and MySQL with some light frontend)
• Integrate functions across multiple web and cloud platforms including via various API
• Update and improve efficiency of PHP code or legacy code
• Optimize web pages for ideal search engine compatibility
• Various IT and computer maintenance tasks as needed

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree or higher
• Proficiency in PHP (with willingness to tackle legacy versions) and MySQL
• Front-end skills with HTML, CSS, and Javascript/JQuery/AJAX
• You may be asked to provide a portfolio of PHP projects with access to some of your code work

HIGHLY DESIRABLE

• Experience with third-party API integration (including CURL, SOAP, etc.)
• Familiarity with e-commerce platforms such as OsCommerce, ZenCart, Magento, etc. a plus
• Familiarity with UI and user experience development a plus
• Familiarity with navigation of Linux-based systems a plus
