    San Diego, CA Overview of Position: The Research Associate at Equillium will be an integral part of our research group working on advancing our understanding of the CD6-ALCAM pathway. Equillium is looking for someone who works well independently and as part of a team, thrives in a small company environment, and can work on multiple high priority projects. This person will be on-site in our lab space and will participate in designing and executing pre-clinical and translational research projects. They will be expected to perform experiments using cellular, biochemical, and molecular based approaches, organize and analyze results, and communicate findings in team meetings. The Research Associate will also be key in establishing laboratory standard operating procedures and general protocols. Laboratory work will involve samples from human and animal (mouse, primate). Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Internal Scientific Duties : Performs a variety of laboratory procedures, including cell-based and biochemical assays, using both new and established methods and techniques under general guidance Design experiments to address both mechanistic and disease-based questions Conducts experiments and data analyses, and critically interprets results Organize and maintain data files, reports, and a laboratory notebook Conduct literature reviews and attend seminars to keep up-to-date on topics relevant to research at Equillium Communicate results at research and cross-functional meetings Assist in upkeep of a growing laboratory (equipment maintenance, supply inventory, etc.) Other duties as assigned External Scientific Duties: Provide input on study designs to be performed with external CROs and academic collaborations. Assist with shipment preparation and coordination of reagents and/or other critical materials to be sent to external collaborators Other duties as assigned Job Requirements: Education: Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline with at least 3 years relevant work experience or MS in related discipline with 1 year relevant work experience Location: This role must be performed on-site at our San Diego, CA laboratory and offices. This is not a remote position. Experience: 3+ years of laboratory experience. Experience in cellular immunology and associated techniques is essential. Experience in biotech industry not required but a strong plus Some flow cytometry experience, preparation of samples, staining with appropriate markers for immuno-phenotyping; analysis of flow data using appropriate software Experience in tissue culture (both primary cells and cell lines) and cell-based assays is required Experience with both ELISA-based assays and multiplex cytokine assays (Luminex, MSD and/or CBA) Experience/knowledge of DNA and RNA isolation, protein purification, western blotting, and qPCR The candidate must be well organized and able to work on multiple concurrent projects Skills and Attributes: Highly self-motivated Detail-oriented with excellent time management and organizational skills Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and associated deadlines Some amount of scheduling flexibility in order to accommodate experimental needs. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. Able to present scientific findings at cross-team meetings Strong computer literacy, including Microsoft Office suite and Graphpad Prism Flexibility to adapt in a cross-functional and dynamic, "start-up" type environment Equal Opportunity Employer
