Company: MMI Utility Construction
Location: Downtown Huntsville, AL 35805
Pay: $24.00 – $26.00 per hour (Based on verified skill & performance)
Job Type: Full-time
The Role: Take Full Ownership of the Shop
We run a fast-paced underground utility company in Huntsville with a fleet that needs to stay in the field and making money. We aren't looking for a "helper" or a "clock-puncher." We need an experienced, independent Shop Foreman to turn wrenches, solve problems, and take full responsibility for our mechanical operations.
This is a high-autonomy role for a mechanic who takes pride in their results. If you are a self-starter who knows how to prioritize repairs, manage a shop environment, and get machines back to work, this is your spot.
The Fleet: What You’ll Be Maintaining
You will be the lead for everything in our yard:
Yellow Iron: Mini-Excavators, Directional Drills, and Farm Tractors. Mostly 7k to 25k pound machines
Rolling Stock: Diesel trucks, heavy-duty trailers, and support vehicles.F350’s C4500, International 4700’s, dual tandem trailers, etc
Systems: Troubleshooting electrical shorts (trailers/trucks), hydraulic repairs (hoses, seals, valves), and engine work (injectors, pumps, alternators).
What We Offer
Professional Autonomy: Real respect and zero micromanagement. You plan your day, manage the workflow, and keep the fleet moving.
Incentives: Competitive starting pay with performance-based bonuses for reviving equipment and maintaining 100% fleet readiness.
Fully Equipped Facility: Access to a downtown shop with the tools and resources needed to succeed.
Benefits: 401(k) and Paid Time Off (PTO).
Requirements
Documented Expertise: You must hit the ground running. A verifiable work history and solid professional references are required.
Independence: Must be highly organized. While field staff can occasionally assist with heavy tasks, you are the lead responsible for the shop's success. This is a solo job, like working alone, here you go..
Schedule: Full-time (6:30 AM – 3:00 PM). We offer flexibility for the right professional, but this is a consistent 40-hour/week commitment. Hours can be flexible for the right team member.
Reliability: Must have reliable transportation to the downtown yard.
Key Responsibilities
Preventative Maintenance: Brakes, fluids, oil changes, and routine 50/100/500-hour inspections.
Electrical & Diagnostics: Rewiring trailer lights, finding shorts, and managing fuses.
Hydraulics: Expertly replacing hoses and valves; installing new seals on cylinders.
Engine Service: Injector replacements, alternators, water pumps, and cooling systems.
To Apply: Respond with your work history and mechanical experience. This position is for a professional who wants to run their own shop and be treated with respect. Your rewarding career awaits at MMI Utility Construction.
