  • Responsibilities

    Job Description

    Works closely with students and nursing staff to apply health and wellness care plans under supervision of a Registered Nurse in accordance with the state-specific Nurse Practice Act.

    • Takes temperatures, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs to determine the patient’s progress.
    • Participates in medical examination of new students in accordance with the U.S. Department of Labor’s (DOL) guidelines.
    • May screen patients and direct them to the Center Physician, Dentist, Health Services Coordinator, Counselor, or public health department as appropriate.
    • Assists the Physician with patient examinations.
    • Prepares patients for tests and examinations.
    • Assists in conducting cursory exams for all new students.
    • Maintains accurate medical records, updates medical records in a timely manner, and retrieves all patient records of outside medical visits for continued care on center.
    • Provides medical counseling/education to students.
    • Acts as a responsible custodian for the assigned center property.
    • Reports violations of ethical behavior.
    • Suggests opportunities for continuous operational improvement and reduction of waste.
    • Identifies and reports environmental health and safety concerns.
    • Will provide on-call services at the discretion of the Health and Wellness Director.
    • Clearly communicates and consistently models appropriate CSS and employability skills.
    • Maintains accountability of staff, students, and property.
    • Adheres to safety practices in all areas of responsibility.
    • Fosters and sustains a conducive environment at the center, ensuring it remains free from harassment, intimidation, and disrespect, thereby ensuring a safe space for both staff and students to engage in work and learning.
    • Attends all required training opportunities.
    • Other duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • LVN/LPN: active, unrestricted license to practice in the state where the center is located.
    • Two years related experience.
    • Experience working with diverse youth.
    • A valid driver’s license in the state of employment with an acceptable driving record.
