JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are looking for someone who thrives at the intersection of digital and physical. You are a hybrid whose heart is creative/technical with a strong understanding of design principles and user experience. You are driven to turn concepts into working prototypes and to refine prototypes into production products. Your drive to make exceptional user experiences propels you throughout the day and elevates your work to an exceptional place. In your down time, you likely are a tinkerer and someone who loves turning ideas to realities. Importantly, you are very curious; you like to understand emerging technologies and you are as good at presenting technology options to clients as you are working with colleagues to adopt them.

CORE SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

• 5+ years of experience working on complex (hard to wrangle) clients & projects
• Strong creative skills, from ideation to communication and presentation of your concepts
• Strong programming skills (Python, JS/NodeJS, C/C++/C#, HTML/CSS & Java are desirable in particular)
• Ability to engage and work with a multidisciplinary team of internal or external specialists
• A solid foundation of prototyping software packages (e.g. TouchDesigner, Unity, Unreal, Max MSP, Resolume etc. – not all necessary)
• Versatility and extensive knowledge of I/O hardware configuration & hacking
• Understanding of 3D visualization principles & software (working with models, scenes, shaders, etc.)
• Good understanding and approach to schedules and deadlines
• Past experience working with multidisciplinary teams of internal or external specialists
• Core understanding & skills with Photoshop, Illustrator and knowledge of the wider Adobe Creative Suite

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Staying ahead of emerging technologies (must have)
• Prototyping digital concepts (mobile, web) and digital/physical concepts (e.g Arduino driving custom mechanical hardware)
• Oversight of Labs programs
• Input & oversight of the production implementation of your concepts with third parties
• Working with a wider team of designers, developers, architects and strategists across digital, physical and service design projects
