    Purpose

    The First Responders/Law Enforcement Behavior Health Wellness Trainer/Retreat Leader (Wellness Trainer) is to ensure proper delivery of mental performance training for Public Safety Departments, contracts and employees alike. The goal of mental health education is to reduce stigma and encourage people to seek care or treatment when needed. The Wellness Trainer will work to implement skills-based training to clients, appropriate service providers, and staff. The position will work to build relationships amongst different organizations and departments. All of these services will be documented appropriately and recorded in compliance with the funding associated with the position. Will facilitate the development of training programs including curriculum development, assessment methods, skills standards, competencies, and evaluation methods. Assists in the development, planning, implementation, and evaluation of instructional programs. This position is a hybrid position with travel monthly is expected to the retreats that are located in the area of San Bernardino CA.

    Responsibilities:

    • Provides psychoeducation and Behavioral Health training.
    • Work collectively with other internal programs to schedule client training.
    • Reach out to known leaders of departments or wellness coordinators to explore partnerships in training.
    • Build new relationships with wellness coordinators and seek their feedback on services provided.
    • Explore innovative ways of translating mental health education cross-culturally.
    • Implement pre- and post-tests and analyze information for program improvement.
    • Follow up on all requests for individuals who ask to be connected to ongoing mental health care or further training.
    • Ability to travel to and from training or retreats monthly with overnights. Retreat are 3 to 7 days long and will require travel to the retreats.
    • Document all services provided to clients in accordance with grant requirements and weekly staff and team meetings.
    • Participate in staff training and development activities.
    • Perform other duties as may be required by the supervisor.

    Skills, Knowledge and Competencies Required:

    • Effectively communicate with clients of diverse cultural and language backgrounds.
    • ? Must be comfortable in intercultural environments.
    • Must be able to work occasional hours outside of normal business hours.
    • Self-starter with a high level of organizational skill, flexibility and commitment to refugees.
    • Must be able to function as part of a team.
    • PC proficiency/MAC, competent with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, G-Suite.
    • Commitment to cultural diversity and sensitivity

    Qualifications:

    • Master or doctoral degree in social work or related field.
    • 5 or more years of experience in social services or related field (LMFT, LCSW, LPC)
    • Formal experience with mental health education and trauma
    • 2 years' trauma experience
    • 2 years' experience with clinical training
    • Current First Aid/CPR certification.
    • Health Screen and Current TB Negative Result.
    • Criminal Background Check Clearance.

    Preferred experience working with First Responders

    Working Conditions: Work is performed in an office or other environmentally controlled room. Work may expose incumbent to contagious or infectious diseases, dangerous and volatile situations, or possible bodily injury.
