    Project Manager / Estimator

    Shift: Day Shift, Standard business hours

    Salary: $110,000 – $150,000 plus bonus (dependent on experience)

Our organization is currently in a high-growth phase with plans to double or triple in size over the next two to four years. We serve diverse industrial clients and are looking for dedicated professionals to help modernize our systems and revitalize our civil division.

    Project Manager / Estimator Role

    This dual-function role exists to provide accurate, competitive estimates and seamless project management for a wide variety of utility construction and industrial civil projects, ranging from small service repairs to major facility improvements. The Project Manager / Estimator is responsible for scoping projects, executing comprehensive bids, overseeing the full job lifecycle, managing client relationships, and ensuring the overall financial viability and operational success of our civil division's project portfolio.

    Project Manager / Estimator Responsibilities

    • Site Scoping: Conduct thorough on-site walkdowns at industrial facilities and utility construction sites to determine project scope and operational requirements.
    • Cost Estimating: Develop detailed cost estimates for industrial civil tasks such as concrete containment, foundations, pipe bollard installation, and grouting.
    • Conceptual Design: Create project outlines and mental blueprints in environments where formal engineering drawings or specifications are frequently unavailable.
    • Facility Remodels: Generate accurate quotes and manage the complete execution for office, restroom, and cafeteria remodels within industrial sites.
    • Client Engagement: Collaborate closely with industrial and utility clients to understand their specific service needs and provide tailored project solutions.
    • Lifecycle Management: Manage the procurement of materials and coordinate equipment and crew logistics for newly awarded projects from initiation through closeout.
    • Financial Oversight: Review and approve vendor invoices while overseeing the completion of project-related billing and tracking job profitability.
    • Active Communication: Maintain active, transparent communication with customers throughout the bidding process and project execution.
    • Field Monitoring: Monitor active job site progress to ensure fieldwork aligns precisely with estimated costs, safety expectations, and quality standards.
    • System Modernization: Assist in upgrading operational and estimating systems as the company transitions to cloud-based platforms.

    Reporting Relationships

    The Project Manager / Estimator reports directly to the Division Lead. This role does not currently have any direct reports.

    About You

    • Dual Expertise: Possess extensive experience in a hybrid project manager and estimator capacity within utility construction, industrial civil work, or heavy industrial services environments.
    • Technical Knowledge: Demonstrate strong technical understanding of concrete work, excavation, utility installation, and structural remodels.
    • Spatial Visualization: Display a proven ability to visualize, price, and execute projects from scratch without the use of detailed engineering drawings.
    • Software Proficiency: Maintain advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for project tracking, budgeting, and cost modeling.
    • Strong Communicator: Communicate clearly and professionally with industrial facility managers, plant directors, and internal field teams.
    • Adaptable Work Ethic: Exhibit a robust work ethic and the adaptability required to thrive in a rapidly growing, transforming organization.
    • Logistics Management: Apply proven project management principles to coordinate end-to-end materials procurement and subcontractor logistics.
    • Local Travel: Show a willingness to travel locally up to three hours from the home facility for site visits, walkdowns, and project oversight.
    • Portfolio Management: Demonstrate the analytical skills necessary to successfully manage a diverse project book ranging from $5,000 to $1,000,000.
    • Mindset: Maintain a "field-first" mindset balanced with the professional discipline to operate effectively in a high-level administrative capacity.
