Position Overview
The Estimator plays a critical role on Streib's team by producing detailed electrical estimates and material take-offs that accurately reflect project scope, budget, and margin goals. This individual will work closely with Project Managers and Program Leaders but is expected to operate independently, developing clean, accurate estimates that require minimal revision prior to bid submission.
This role is ideal for a candidate who understands electrical systems, reads and interprets plans and specifications fluently, and enjoys the challenge of balancing cost accuracy with competitive strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform complete electrical quantity take-offs for commercial and multifamily projects.
- Develop detailed cost estimates, budgets, and proposals with minimal oversight.
- Interpret blueprints, specifications, and addenda to determine scope and requirements.
- Collaborate with Project Managers to confirm assumptions, production rates, and vendor pricing.
- Analyze subcontractor and vendor quotes for accuracy and competitiveness.
- Maintain organized estimate files and documentation through Stack, KOJO, and company systems.
- Participate in hand-off meetings to ensure field teams understand estimate assumptions.
- Track bid results and support continuous improvement in estimating accuracy and margin performance.
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of experience in electrical estimating, project coordination, or related field.
- Strong proficiency with estimating software, blue beam and Microsoft Excel.
- Solid understanding of electrical construction methods, materials, and labor factors.
- Ability to interpret complex blueprints and specifications independently.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy under tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Preferred but not required:
- Prior field experience as an Electrician, Foreman, or Project Engineer.
Work Schedule
Monday through Friday, standard business hours. Occasional extended hours may be required for bid deadlines.
