  • Responsibilities

    DESCRIPTION: 

    Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for continuous process and product improvement within the production facility. This role would perform problem solving, technical analysis, and other related engineering functions to further operational goals.

    • Support a Lean Manufacturing environment through the development, validation, implementation and documentation of manufacturing process improvements.
    • Actively participate on project teams to support the introduction of new products in a professional and cooperative interdepartmental atmosphere.
    • Provide support to the production group by:
      • resolving process related issues as they arise
      • assisting in training of production personnel
      • monitoring production lines for potential process improvements while suggesting/implementing changes as necessary
    • Provide technical support to others within the organization on an as-needed basis
    • Negotiate and establish contracts with outside suppliers for equipment and machine design and fabrication.
    • Lead efforts to investigate and perform root-cause analysis of manufacturing process issues.
    • Implement sound corrective actions to permanently resolve production concerns.
    • Ensure the effectiveness of process improvements by developing and monitoring relevant metrics.
    • Monitor production metrics related to in-line scrap and labor efficiency to identify areas for improvement.
    • May perform other duties as assigned

    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
    • Ability to write procedures, report and correspondence.
    • Efficient with Microsoft Word and Excel

     

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

     

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    This position operates within a manufacturing environment and requires daily use of personal protective equipment such as respirators, hair nets, gloves, and goggles. 

     

    TRAVEL:

    Limited travel (5%) is required for this position.

     

    PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    1. Bachelor's level degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
    2. 2 years of experience in a manufacturing engineering role.
    3. Associates Degree and additional relevant experience may be a considered in exchange for Bachelor's Degree
