Job Description

Etsy is looking for Machine Learning Engineering interns to join our Machine Learning Infrastructure, Platform and Systems (MIPS) team for summer 2021. Our team's mission is to enable machine learning across Etsy through providing scalable systems and infrastructure. For many sellers, Etsy is their primary source of income, and we work hard to support them. We continue to improve our portfolio to ship new relevance based AI products every year.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with our Data science, platform and product teams. We’re a growing team with huge impact that builds tools and platform capabilities for data scientists and ML engineers to access feature data, build machine learning models, test hypotheses and productionalize them on our ML platform. We also build systems & infrastructure for Recommender Systems, Information Retrieval, Natural Language Processing, Computational Advertising, Deep Learning and Computer Vision.

• Platform to accelerate model training and prototyping
• Platform for online model serving
• Platform for Reinforcement Learning / Bandit algorithms
• Computer Vision systems
• Realtime ML & Streaming services for Machine Learning
• Centralized Feature Store
• Approximate Nearest Neighbor systems

Qualifications

Who You Are

• You are currently enrolled in a full-time M.S. / Ph.D degree program in Computer Science / Machine Learning, or related fields.
• You have a focus on writing high quality, maintainable code
• You are mindful and transparent in your communication with others
• Solid engineering & coding skills and proficiency in at least one programming language of python, Scala, Java or C/C++. 
• You have experience with Docker or a similar container framework and container orchestration tools such as Kubernetes
• Hand-on experience in Machine learning frameworks & technologies such as Tensorflow / TFX, Pytorch, Kubeflow.
• You have the ability to quickly prototype ideas and can solve complex problems by adapting creative approaches.
