    What’s the role?

The User Experience Foundation initiative is foundational to product development at Etsy, enabling teams to build brand-aligned, inclusive, usable products at scale. As a Staff Product Designer on Design Systems, you will work directly with Design, Product and Engineering leadership to craft our growing landscape of systems and will shape the future of Etsy’s customer experience. Your designs will have a multiplier effect as your products are used by all product teams, and touch every piece of the customer journey.

This is a full-time position reporting to the Senior Product Design Manager for User Experience Foundation and the base salary range will be 157,000 - 205,000 USD per year. In addition to salary, you will also be eligible for an equity package, an annual performance bonus, and our competitive benefits that support you and your family as part of your total rewards package at Etsy. This role requires your presence in Etsy’s Brooklyn office in an in-person or flex capacity. Candidates living within commutable distance of the Brooklyn Hub, may be the first to be considered. Together the team delivers systematic solutions to challenging problems, pressure testing those ideas along the way and getting direct feedback from our internal customers. You’ll collaborate with design systems designers and cross-functional leads to craft systems to support our web and native platforms, and influence the vision and strategy of our initiative.

What does the day-to-day look like?

    • Discovering insights, opportunities, and requirements
    • Designing new components and styles, and creating clear guidelines for our internal customers
    • Mapping the end-to-end user journey for key workflows applying service design methodology
    • Testing prototypes and hypotheses with users to collect feedback
    • Sharing your work to peers and leadership, async and in-person
    • Taking part in weekly design critiques, workshops, all hands and squad meetings
    • Researching and formulating an opinion on industry trends in design systems and accessibility
    • Thinking and writing about your process and documenting your decisions
    • Of course, this is just a sample of the kinds of work this role will require! You should assume that your role will encompass other tasks, too, and that your job duties and responsibilities may change from time to time at Etsy's discretion, or otherwise applicable with local law.
