Job Description

This is a full-time position reporting to the Risk Platform Engineering Manager and the base salary range will be $131,000.00 - 170,000.00. In addition to salary, you will also be eligible for an equity package, an annual performance bonus, and our competitive benefits that support you and your family as part of your total rewards package at Etsy.

For this role, we are considering candidates based in the United States. Candidates living within commutable distance of Etsy’s Brooklyn Office Hub or in the San Francisco Bay Area may be the first to be considered. For candidates within commutable distance, Etsy requires in-office attendance once or twice per week depending on your proximity to the office. What’s this team like at Etsy?

• Risk Platform is responsible for building and maintaining a data centralization service that powers a wide array of tools and platforms that detect and action risky behavior.
• We collaborate with the Risk Control Writing, Product Engineering Teams and Risk Machine Learning Teams to ensure that platform infrastructure is reliable, scalable and capable of handling the needs of risk applications over time.

What does the day-to-day look like?

• Collaborate closely with Engineers, Product Managers, and Designers to develop solutions to reduce risk on Etsy, protecting sellers and buyers.
• Develop with an eye on quality, using performance monitoring tooling, automated and manual testing, and observability tools to verify the correctness and quality of your code.
• Collaborate with our cross-functional teams and business partners across Etsy.
• Contribute at all levels of our web application stack, ranging from front-end web interfaces to back-end technologies. We use HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, React, PHP, MySQL, and Memcache, but it's okay if you don't have experience with all of these!

Qualifications

• Write understandable, testable code while keeping maintainability and scalability in mind.
• Find value in empowering data-driven decision making and building out experiments that enable big product and design decisions.
• Enjoy thinking about the implications of your work on end users. You are comfortable collaborating with Product Managers and Designers to ensure that your work makes on impact.
• Have excellent collaboration skills and forward-looking!
