Position overview:
Eurasia Group is seeking to hire an Analyst to support our Energy, Climate and Resources (ECR) team. The team is cross cutting and works with the country research teams as well as other industry groups to provide deep understanding of energy and environmental trends in the geopolitical context. ECR develops and communicates the firm’s key views on latest energy and sustainability trends and upcoming political risks for clients across all industries and regions.
A desirable candidate must have academic and research experience in global politics, energy and sustainability. Topics cover oil and gas, mining, renewable energy, emerging technologies (e.g., hydrogen and CCUS), climate disclosures, international climate policy, biodiversity, and water. These issues are analyzed for their impact on markets that affect clients including heavy industry, retail, technology companies, transportation companies, and banks and investors.
Substantial comfort with data and producing chartwork in Microsoft Excel is a requirement. We need someone who is comfortable not just in working with data but also in analyzing trends in data to draw conclusions about what the data is telling us and where things are headed and how markets are responding to political risks and pressures. We need someone with a unique mind who can work with data and draw out comparisons and trends from within large data sets.
Finally we require a candidate who is comfortable with a fast-moving, changing, small-company environment; someone who can deal with ambiguity and a lack of formal structures. We need someone who is low-ego, a team player, someone who focuses on solving problems and can take on leadership in all these areas over time.
