    Position overview: Associate, Africa, Washington DC

    We are seeking an Associate or Analyst who will contribute research on political and economic developments across sub-Saharan Africa, with a particular focus on Nigeria, South Africa, and regional trends pertaining to markets, the energy transition, and digital & payments infrastructure.

    In this role, you will:

    · Conduct in-depth research on the implications of political, economic and market developments in major African economies such as Nigeria and South Africa

    · Lead research collaborations between the Africa practice and corporate teams on topics including energy, climate policy, geo-technology, and critical minerals

    · Shape the practice’s views on pan-African affairs, particularly relations with critical partners such as the US, China, and the EU

    · Publish short- and long-form research pieces featuring clear forward-looking calls

    · Regularly brief clients on developments in sectors including finance, energy, telecommunications, and retail

    · Manage special research projects commissioned by clients

    Qualifications:

    · 3-7 years of experience on Africa and other corporate sectors

    · An advanced degree in political science, international relations, economics, or a related discipline

    · An understanding of Nigeria’s political economy is preferred

    · An understanding of financial markets and public finance is preferred

    · On-the-ground experience in Africa is preferred

    · Excellent research and analytical skills

    · Excellent writing and presentation (oral and written) skills

    · A collaborative and team-oriented spirit

    · Ability to work under tight deadlines

    This position will be based in Washington DC.
