    Eurasia Group is the world’s leading political risk advisory and consulting firm. Our mission is to assist investors, companies, foundations, and public-sector institutions anticipate the opportunities and manage the risks created by the impact of politics and policy on markets around the world. 

    EG’s Financial Institutions Group is seeking interns to support our work assessing the implications of geopolitics and government policy for our clients’ businesses.  We conduct bespoke research and analysis across a wide range of topics for clients across the global financial sector.

    This internship will provide opportunities to learn about the intersection of financial markets and geopolitics, develop advisory, consulting, and research competencies, and network with Eurasia Group analysts responsible for coverage of other issues, countries, and sectors. Applicants should be students at an academic institution. 

    Responsibilities include:

    • Researching and writing on geopolitical developments of interest to various types of financial institution clients, including banking, insurance, and payments companies. Topics you might be asked to dig into in a given week include digital asset regulation across various geographies, the geopolitics of cross-border payments platforms, and material developments in climate commitments across the global financial sector.
    • Contributing to the design and execution of tailored advisory projects addressing risks and opportunities to client firms and organizations.
    • Analyzing qualitative and quantitative data to deliver client-focused insights and conclusions.

     Qualifications:

    • Must be enrolled in an academic institution 
    • Research experience and/or capabilities in relevant issues such as: financial innovation, (i.e., digital asset/cryptocurrency regulation, fintech, instant payments, etc.) and climate finance and other Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) issues relevant to the financial sector.
    • Educational background in finance, economics, international affairs, political science, and/or business
    • Ability to perform research and analysis using primary local sources
    • Strong writing skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail
    • Intellectual curiosity, creativity, and a team-oriented mindset
    • Ability to quickly ramp up on and research a wide range of topics
    • Some form of consulting background, and/or familiarity with consulting projects, is a plus
    • Interest and experience in the visual presentation of data and statistics is a plus
    • Full business proficiency in the English language; additional language skills are a plus
    • Preferred: prior experience in fintech, climate finance, or other parts of the financial sector
