    Job Description

    GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

    The Billing Assistant II is responsible for timely resolution of assigned front-end insurance errors to facilitate meeting department and company financial goals. The Billing Assistant II is also responsible for satisfying patient concerns as an agent in our patient call center.  

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

    • Facilitate resolution of system-identified errors, such as missing insurance data, front-end denials, patient demographics, etc.
    • Facilitate resolution of missing dates of collection on testing requisitions, to include updating the clinical LIS system
    • May assist with data entry of patient information from requisition order into Diatherix BOE application
    • Responsible for assigning ICD-10 diagnosis code based on ordering physician narrative description
    • Satisfy patient concerns as an agent in the patient call center
    • Process credit card payments
    • Other duties as assigned

     

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • ASSOCIATES DEGREE IN MEDICAL BILLING (OR ITS EQUIVALENT), CODING CERTIFICATION, OR HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA WITH 1-3 YEARS MEDICAL INSURANCE BILLING EXPERIENCE
    • Knowledge of medical terminology
    • Familiarity with HIPAA privacy requirements
    • Proficient in the use of computers and common office equipment
    • Must be energetic, dependable with good attendance and have excellent customer service skills
    • Detail oriented with strong organizational and time management skills
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Strong interpersonal skills
    • Ability to demonstrate self-motivation and ownership of assigned work
