    Job Description

    We are currently seeking an experienced IT Specialist to join our Raleigh, NC office location.

    The Timmons Group IT Specialist is an expert troubleshooter tasked with supporting the hardware and software used throughout the organization. IT Specialists will help manage multiple software license servers (including, but not limited to, Bentley SELECT, ArcGIS, Adobe, MSFT, and Autodesk), several monitoring solutions (such as System Center), several backup solutions (both physical media and cloud-based), and provide elevated hardware and software troubleshooting support for users with critical issues. Candidate must possess strong knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems and network topology. Familiar with AutoCAD related software is a plus.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:

    • Manage Timmons Group services, tools, and licensing components.
    • Support end-users/team members to design solutions and troubleshoot problems for internal or client deliverables.
    • Coordinate with the Systems Administrator to resolve networking problems.
    • Learn new technical skills and procedures.
    • Work autonomously on problems/projects and deliver solutions.

    Skills/Requirements of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, or Computer Science preferred
    • 3-5 years of relevant work experience preferred
    • Familiar with virtualization platforms
    • Basic understanding of IPv4 Networking
    • Ability to assess performance bottlenecks in applications or end-user computers
      • Bandwidth/throughput
      • I/O
      • Memory utilization
      • CPU utilization, etc.
    • Experience with administration of web applications/associated software preferred (IIS, Nginx, Apache)
    • Knowledge of server operating systems and ability to administer (Windows Server, Ubuntu, RedHat)
    • Knowledge of shell languages and ability to write basic scripts (PowerShell, Bash, Windows Command line)
    • Ability to undertake Office365 administration tasks
    • Ability to work nights and weekends as needed for computer related items.
    • Expert problem solver/trouble shooting skills that leverage different methods for a solution to solve a problem quickly
    • Proficiency in remote administration and troubleshooting of desktop PC’s
    • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
    • Experience with Autodesk and ArcGIS products a plus.

    ** Required Education:**

    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, bioinformatics, or related field.

    ** Type and duration of previous experience:**

    • 4-6 years of proven experience in IT roles within a scientific research or laboratory environment, preferably in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or CRO industry.
    • Strong proficiency in scripting languages relevant for laboratory automation such as R Script, VBScript, or Python.
    • Experience with laboratory information management systems, instruments and scientific data management.

    ** Specific skills required:**

    • Solid understanding of network infrastructure, database management, and cybersecurity principles.
    • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex scientific needs into practical IT solutions.
    • Experience in providing support and troubleshooting infrastructure and software issues in a lab environment, with a strong emphasis on problem-solving and customer service. Strong activity management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
    • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and compliance standards specific to the Life Sciences industry, ensuring adherence to regulations governing data privacy, security, and quality.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Fluent in English.

    ** Travel:**

    • Occasional travel to Eurofins facilities worldwide, including weekends.
    • Estimated travel time is approximately 10% of working time.
