Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position serves as an entry level internship position working in the Semivolatile and wet chemistry departments. Internship is a full time temporary position through the summer with the potential to extend part time through the school year. Intern will assist all areas of the laboratory with basic laboratory tasks and develop their skills through experience and training. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to cleaning and maintenance of equipment, sample handling and login, sample preparation, and sample analysis.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

·      Regular attendance and punctuality

·      Assist with quality control administrative tasks

·      Prepare samples for analysis

·      Assist with Logging in client samples and maintaining sample storage

·      Stock laboratory supplies

·      Maintain, clean and prepare glassware and other laboratory equipment

·      Assist with special projects as needed

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skill or ability required. Education/Experience (BMQ): Pursing an Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Physical or life science.  Must currently have at least 8 credits of Chemistry course work. Ability and/or Skills (BMQ): •Strong computer, scientific, organizational and problem-solving skills •Ability to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivated, and a positive attitude •Handle moderate stress •Detail oriented •Ability to follow instructions and comply with SOPs •Effective communication (oral and written) and attention to detail •Adaptability to work in varying laboratory environments

Schedule: 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.
