    Job Description

    CORE RESPONSIBILITY_:_

    Responsible for performing all activities associated with growing and screening of transformed cells, assist midi/maxi team, and setting up PCR

    POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Screen transformed cell cultures for successful growth. Pick colonies for further processing.
    • Prepare plasmids for sequencing and quantify DNA by O.D.
    • Prepare glycerol stocks. Archive successful cultures.
    • Setting up PCR using established protocols.
    • Provide assistance to midi/maxi prep team when needed.
    • Prepare growth media and all other required reagents.
    • Labware cleaning and autoclaving.
    • Work within a multi-disciplinary team, meet goals for accuracy, production deadlines and throughput utilizing the company’s proprietary gene-synthesis platform and related tools.
    • Perform production protocols according to established company operating procedures and assist with general production support as needed.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • The ideal candidate is self-motivated, possesses outstanding organizational skills, able to work independently and perform as an effective team member. 
    • Familiarity with sterile technique, preparation of culture media, and the operation of complex laboratory equipment are highly desirable.
    • Experience utilizing and manipulating data via databases is preferred.
    • Good computer skills, precise attention to detail, record keeping, and adherence to protocols is required. 
    • The position will require weekend work (Tuesday to Saturday: 7:00am to 3:30pm).
