Biological Development Scientist
Job Description
Quantitate antigens using antibody-based assays including ELISA and Western blot
Generate recombinant DNA constructs using techniques including nucleic acid extraction, PCR, gel electrophoresis, plasmid DNA cloning, and bacterial transformation
Maintain cell cultures and perform transfection for transient protein expression
Perform virus and bacteria isolation, titration, and characterization
Support generation of analytical assays and reagents such as antibodies and proteins
Work with laboratory animal samples for pathogen isolation and immune response detection (e.g. serum antibody titrations)
Keep accurate experiment records
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in biology, microbiology, biochemistry, molecular biology or other related disciplines with 1-2 years working experience in biological research laboratory
General background in microbiology
Experience with antibody-based immunoassays (e.g. ELISA and Western blot)
Experience in molecular and cellular techniques
Hands-on experience with viruses and bacteria
Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
