The successful candidate will work in an interdisciplinary team focusing on developing gene therapy modalities with the goal of targeting drug delivery to various tissues.
    • The ideal candidate will be self-motivated with a strong foundation in genetics, molecular & cell biology and/or biochemistry and have experience with either cell-based/biochemical assays or gene editing and gene therapy using viral vectors. Prior experience in one or more of these areas will be considered a plus: protein engineering, co-culture systems for cell modeling, assay development and high-throughput screening.
    • Perform molecular biology techniques to evaluate novel genetic constructs and pathways to provide proof-of-mechanism in rare genetic disease models.
    • Have extensive hands-on experience with various cell line culture, transfections and/or transduction techniques.
    • Ability to develop, troubleshoot, perform, and analyze plate-based or cell-based assays. Create experimental designs based on knowledge gained through prior hands-on experience and/or review of relevant technical literature and troubleshoot when required.
    • Strong scientific communication skills – you will manage multiple priorities, tasks and objectives and will need to actively communicate around timelines and requirements.
    • Summarize, analyze and interpret moderately complex scientific data, work independently and have excellent written and oral communication skills.
    • Ability to interact with scientists and senior management in a matrix organization.
    • Prior experience or knowledge with in vivo gene therapy evaluation in mice is a plus, particularly with previous experience in developing therapeutics for neuromuscular or rare genetic diseases
