Job Description

• Generate stable pools/cell lines as needed to support the advancement of projects spanning the VMRD portfolio including sterile media production and passaging of cells
• Mammalian expression of recombinant gene constructs in transient and stable feed batch formats for candidate molecule screening and production
• Execute protein production runs from deep well plate to Stir Tank/Wave bioreactors and perform the necessary biophysical and biochemical analysis such as gel electrophoresis, Western Blot and FACS
• Using molecular biology techniques, assemble stable expression vectors for generation of both Protein Sciences stable pools and Cell Line Development manufacturing cell lines
• Prepare precise technical report summaries, protocols, analysis and maintain appropriate documentation within an ELN
• Maintain high scientific rigor and attention to detail in testing hypotheses and analyzing data

Qualifications

• Educational background: Bachelor’s or Master degree or equivalent in scientific discipline with emphasis in cell biology, molecular biology or related field with 2-5 years of hands-on industry experience
• Training and demonstrated proficiency in cell biology and aseptic cell culture with a wide variety of cell types , both suspension culture and adherent
• Experience with aseptic tissue culture
• Working knowledge in molecular biology, cloning, protein expression and protein analysis techniques (SDS-PAGE, Western Blot)
• Demonstrated ability to work independently at the bench with a variety of vector platforms and expression systems using both transient and stable modalities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, exhibiting self-motivation, adaptability, and a positive attitude
• Attention to detail and good oral and written communication skills required

• Work environment: the person filling this position will work predominantly in a laboratory setting. There may be exposure to hazardous chemicals.

• Position is full-time, first shift, Monday-Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM with some variation as needed.
