Developmental Scientist: LC-MS
Job Description
We are seeking a scientist with a proven track record of cellular and molecular proteomics, analytical chemistry and/or biochemistry to play a key supporting role in the MS-based proteomics group in precision medicine and computational biology. The scientist will contribute to the development of LC-MS acquisition methods and proteomic workflows using robotics and automated liquid handlers with the outcome to accelerating and alleviating the manual-intensive aspects of sample prep increasing throughput and depth. The candidate will apply new and established workflows to biological systems and various sample types (tissues, biofluids and cells) for biomarker discovery and mechanism of action studies.
The candidate will work with cross-functional teams and across different therapeutic areas and academic collaborators on these projects.
Key responsibilities
Contribute to innovative therapeutic platforms and apply cutting-edge proteomic technologies for disease profiling and biomarker discovery
Generate proteomic datasets for disease profiling and mechanism of action studies
Assist in instrument troubleshooting, maintenance and repairs
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications
MS and 3+ years or equivalent, BS with 5+ years relevant lab experience in biochemistry, proteomics, analytical chemistry, or related field in academic, pharma or biotech industry, or PhD with 0-1 years postgraduate experience
Hands-on experience with nano-flow LC-MS based proteomics (Label-free, DIA or TMT approaches)
Hands-on experience with executing, optimizing, developing proteomic sample preparations (eg. extractions, SPE, digestion, peptide labeling protocols) from cells, tissues or biofluids for mass spec analysis
Knowledge or experience with MS-data processing tools for proteomics (eg. Proteome Discoverer, Spectronaut), knowledge of biostatistics and bioinformatics
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work in a collaborative environment
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task on several projects
Preferred experience
Sample preparation of limited tissue samples with Ultrasensitive proteomics
Use, operation and/or maintenance of Thermo Orbitraps and/or Bruker Tims-Tof mass specs
Hands-on operating and/or maintaining mass specs
Hands-on targeted proteomic approaches
Hands-on automation (liquid handlers, Hamilton, Bravo, Biomek)
Hands-on co-immunoprecipitations, affinity-based protein profiling, chemoproteomics
Analysis of proteomic data sets, coding experience in R or Phyton
