    Banquet Captain Reports to:

    Position Overview:

    Europa Village Winery is seeking an experienced Banquet Captain to provide hands-on direction, leadership, training, and support for the banquet team during assigned events and daily to maintain department readiness. By aligning with our core values, strategic goals and objectives, this individual will work closely with the Banquet Managers, the sales and catering team, and different managers, supervisors, and employees across the property. This is a dynamic role that will support a large staff of up to 30 team members. The ideal candidate will have a passion for service with a motivating and energetic personality. Strong leadership and organizational skills are essential and prior banquet experience is required.

    This is an hourly position with a Company that operates 24 hours per day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year. A successful candidate must be available and willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

    Required Experience and Qualifications:

    1 to 3 years of experience in a banquet department with 20+ employees.

    Prior experience updating and implementing standard operating procedures.

    Experience managing departmental timekeeping and payroll – knowledge of ADP Payroll services a plus.

    Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.

    Responsibilities Specific to Banquet Captain:

    Support all safety policies and procedures.

    Responsible for the appropriate and timely set up of all functions and meetings while maintaining standards of food, beverage and meeting specifications.

    Reviews and understands Banquet Event Orders (BEO's) at the beginning of each shift to ensure banquet rooms or areas are set as per instructions and client's request.

    Ensures all functions are set and team is prepared and organized before the required time on the BEO.

    Inspects table place settings, including table linen, china, glass, silverware and condiments for correct placement and ensures each element is clean, undamaged and attractive.

    Monitors banquet team members to ensure all operating procedures are followed.

    Supervises the handling, storage, maintenance, and security of all catering service equipment.

    Remains alert of complaints and/or unsatisfied guests and communicated with Banquet Manager or responds directly to ensure guest satisfaction.

    Assists in maintaining the scheduling order for each event.

    Prepares tables, action stations, buffets, service carts, dessert tables with specified tools, wares, and equipment according to BEO and Europa Village standards.

    Greets guests warmly.

    Has a good understanding of the food being served and able to answer questions regarding food items.

    Delivers and serves welcome drinks, appetizers, meals, beverages, condiments and accompaniments.

    Responds to guests requests in a friendly, timely and efficient manner.

    Ensures the entire table is served at the same time.

    Supervises clearing and post event clean-up.

    Prepares summaries and reports for each event.

    Other duties as directed.

    Expectations of the Banquet Captain:

    Create and foster an environment of "teamwork" by helping fellow employees or guests without a second thought.

    Ability to treat all associates and guests in a respectful manner.

    Arrive at work prepared with excellent personal presentation standards with a clean, pressed uniform and appropriate shoes.

    Arrive on time and be respectful of attendance and punctuality.

    Adhere to Europa Village policies and procedures.

    Be hospitable, welcoming, and exhibit a positive attitude and willingness to assist where necessary.

    Detail oriented and focused on quality in a faced paced manner.

    Helps to ensure the facility, property and grounds are maintained to Europa Village standards.

    This is a physically demanding job and a successful candidate must be able to push and pull, stand for extended periods, stoop, bend, climb stairs, work indoors and outdoors, and lift items weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.

    Food Handler and Responsible Beverage Service Certifications are required.

    Must have full schedule flexibility and available to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
