Community and Family Resources is seeking a Counselor to provide substance use services to our clients in the Intensive Outpatient level of care!!
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- ** Intake/Assessments:**
* Assists clients in completion of necessary assessment forms/documents.
* Conducts individual assessment sessions for completion of comprehensive assessment histories of clients.
* Participates with the direct supervisor in development of recommendations for clients.
* Prepares and distributes assessment results, reports, etc., as required and requested.
* Assists in other assessment processes as required and requested.
- ** Treatment Services:**
* Provides client orientation to treatment services.
* Assists in the development, coordination, and evaluation of the treatment program.
* Conducts individual, family, and group sessions consistent with treatment plans.
* Develops and coordinates individual treatment plans with client, supervisor, and referral sources.
* Facilitates groups as required.
* Provides follow-up services.
- ** Support Services:**
* Assists individuals and families in the intervention process through educational and planning sessions and, when feasible, participates in the interventions.
* Maintains appropriate client and pre-client case records.
* Provides clients and families with referral resources for the services not provided by this agency or when this agency’s services are not appropriate.
* Provides training for agency staff in areas of own expertise.
- ** Community Education and Prevention:**
* Participates in coordination of community awareness programs concerning problem-gambling and substance use,
* Provides community education about problem gambling and substance use when consistent with program philosophy and personal expertise.
Schedule:
- Type: Full-time
- Hours: 40+ hours each week. This position provides our Evening IOP services and must be able to work until 8 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings/ Wednesday & Thursday 8am to 4:30pm.
Education and Experience Qualifications:
- Bachelors or Masters degree required, preferably in social or behavioral sciences or related field. Candidates with an Associates degree and 3+ years of experience as a substance use counselor is preferred.
Required Knowledge and Abilities:
- Knowledge of the theories, principles, and techniques of problem gambling and substance abuse treatment.
- Knowledge of the psychosocial aspects of substance abuse.
- Knowledge of the principles of recording and report writing.
- Knowledge of 42CFR and HIPPA and how it relates to agency.
- Knowledge of CARF and IDPH licensure standards.
- Knowledge of public/private welfare, health care, problem gambling and substance use agencies available in the area served by this agency.
- Computer skills including ability to use internet software, spreadsheet software, word-processing software, and electronic health record.
- Ability to communicate effectively, regularly, and fluently in English; bilingual (English/Spanish) abilities are preferred but not required.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
