Position Summary
The Evening Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for visitors, members, and callers at The Abyssinian Baptist Church. This role ensures a welcoming, professional, and efficient environment during evening and weekend hours. The receptionist supports the daily operations of the church by managing the front desk, assisting with inquiries, and coordinating communication among staff and ministry leaders.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet and assist members, guests, and visitors in a courteous and professional manner.
- Answer, screen, and direct phone calls and emails to appropriate staff or ministries.
- Provide information about church programs, services, and events.
- Maintain visitor logs and ensure security procedures are followed.
- Manage the reception area, ensuring it remains clean and organized.
- Receive and distribute mail, packages, and deliveries.
- Assist with basic administrative tasks such as data entry, filing, and document preparation.
- Support ministry and event check-ins during evening and weekend hours.
- Communicate facility or maintenance issues promptly to the Operations team.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Office Manager or church leadership.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; some college preferred.
- Minimum one (1) year of administrative, customer service, or receptionist experience.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Professional demeanor and appearance.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and comfortable with database systems.
- Punctual, dependable, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Familiarity with church or nonprofit environments preferred.
