Job Description
THE CHALLENGE
Eventbrite powers millions of live events every year and provides a safe and trusted platform for creators to host awesome events and
attendees to have meaningful experiences.
THE TEAM
At Eventbrite, we have a people-focused engineering organization: working together in small teams to solve big problems, supporting an active culture of mentorship and inclusion, and committing ourselves to learn new things daily. Whether it's pair programming, weekly demos, or techs talk, collaboration is at the core of how we build software. Check out some of our open source initiatives Britecharts and PySOA, and our engineering blog posts.
THE ROLE
The Risk & Fraud team builds and maintains services and tools for a number of business-critical functions including protecting event creators and attendees from financial loss, unsavory user-generated content, marketplace collusion, account takeover and other types of malicious behavior.
As a Principal Software Engineer on the Risk & Fraud team, you will meaningfully impact the experience of millions of event-goers, keeping them safe from malicious activity. You'll be building performant, scalable applications to mitigate risk like fraud reporting and email list management. You'll collaborate with engineering, product, and other business stakeholders to scope and design products. You'll mentor other engineers and contribute to a robust learning culture. You'll be proactive, curious and accessible.
THE TECH STACK
The main Risk & Fraud infrastructure is a Python-based service that can be queried by other systems at Eventbrite. We build tools within the core Eventbrite platform on top of React backed by Django. For datastores, we lean heavily on MySQL, Cassandra, and Redis. We use Kafka for large-scale data pipelining, and scikit-learn for machine learning.
THE SKILL SET
BONUS POINTS
Our engineering teams own their services and systems end to end from requirements gathering to deployment to maintenance. Team members follow an on-call rotation to ensure any issues are mitigated immediately and root causes are rectified."
