Job Description

1. Be able to underwrite agency conforming and jumbo loans and will have the ability to manually underwrite portfolio mortgage loans.

2. Review and evaluate loan documents to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with Bank and Secondary Market investor standards, federal and agency standards and guidelines, as well as applicable state-specific, and or local regulations, ordinances, etc.

3. Analyze borrower's LTV and DTI ratios, credit report, application, income and assets, sourcing of down payment, and related supporting documentations to identify potential fraud or misrepresentations.

4. Review appraisal valuation reports to ensure that loans meet Secondary Market investor and Bank standard requirements.

5. Work with Loan Processors and Loan Officers on collecting information and documentation necessary to finalize loan packages to complete underwriting.

6. Assess and require when rendering underwriting conditional notices whether additional documentation or information would aid in loan decision, as necessary.

7. Provide counter-offer options and recommendations for the borrowers thru Loan Officers so they can convey suitable loan programs, though this does not deter release of adverse action notices to borrowers, when applicable.

8. Keep abreast to adhere with regulatory requirements and industry trends affecting compliance and decision-making.

9. Verify and validate data entries in LOS for accuracy and match it to automated underwriting system when running agency's loan decision thru Loan Prospector or Desktop Underwriter.

10. Assist and support other team members with escalated issues; make recommendations or resolution to management.

11. Perform additional duties that may be assigned as deemed necessary by Manager and/or Team Leader.
