Job Summary: Responsible for preparing financial reports to track the organization’s assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities. The Senior Accountant will be reporting to and partnering with the Chief Financial Officer.
Responsibilities and Duties: • Performs general cost accounting and other related duties in the accounting department. • Prepares periodic (monthly) balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements. • Prepares financial reports, quarterly & annual budgets and various accounting statements. • Maintain general ledger accuracy, responsible for monthly and year-end closing activities and ensure audit adjustments are minimized. • Reconciles department reports to ensure accuracy and completeness. • Reconcile bank and credit card statements, general ledgers, and account balance sheets • Reviews budget reports and assists other departments to prepare annual budgets. • Codes invoices, sets up new accounts, reconciles accounts, and closes the monthly books. • Reconciles bank accounts at least monthly, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks. • Reconciles customer accounts and manages accounts receivable collections. • Verifies payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts. • Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit. • Assists with tax planning throughout the fiscal year; assist with filing annual corporate tax return. • As appropriate, coordinates with software vendor to maintain accounting software system; recommends updates to enhance the accounting software. • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills: • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline required. Coursework must include A/R, Payroll, General Ledger and Income Statement Accounts. • 2-3 years of fiscal experience working with GAAP standards specific general accounting principles. • Extensive knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting. • Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles. • Highly proficient with accounting software. • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
Physical requirements: • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. • The employee is frequently required to walk; use hands and fingers, handle, or feel; and reach forward with hands and arms. • The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, or crouch. • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
