Job Summary: Responsible for providing general, clerical and administrative services as directed by the Occupational Clinic Manager. The Work Comp specialist is also charged with following work comp rules and procedures and maintaining the patient schedule and accounts along with the other day-to-day tasks of the clinic.
Responsibilities and Duties:
• Verification and processing of new injury paperwork. • Maintain and update patient schedules, documents and communications. • Schedule, Confirm and Reschedule patient appointments as required. • Maintain accurate account information. • Support patients through the work comp process from initial injury to medically stationary. • Maintains accurate patient account information through the check-in and check-out process. • Reviews and corrects insurance billing as needed to ensure appropriate payment recoupment is aligning with billing department protocols. • Maintains a positive working relationship with insurance adjusters and State Workers Compensation Division Managers and the Work Comp Coordinator • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills:
• High School Diploma or equivalent • 1-year medical office experience • Knowledge of medical insurance policies and requirements of billing processes • Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Physical requirements:
• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. • The employee is frequently required to walk; use hands and fingers, handle, or feel; and reach forward with hands and arms. • The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, or crouch. • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
