    INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGN POSITIONS

    Evolution Management, Inc. (EMI) has upcoming needs for Instructional Designers to design, develop, lead and/or manage eLearning projects. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential. Must have excellent eLearning instructional design and development expertise using platforms such as Captivate, Articulate, or Lectora. Federal government experience, especially with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, is preferred. The job description below addresses the basic skills required for all ID roles, with additional qualifications desired for the more advanced or specific roles within an EMI training project.

    CAPABILITIES - ESSENTIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS

    INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY:

    • Advanced formal instructional design knowledge, skills and experience for transition of instructor-led training to eLearning training, design and development of eLearning training, and some experience in design and development of instructor-led training
    • Knowledge of, and commitment to, integrating principles of adult learning and sound instructional design methodologies for the design of highly engaging and interactive training experiences, as well as for training evaluation
    • Experience and comfort utilizing both ADDIE and an agile approach to eLearning training design and development
    • Ability to conduct a training Needs Assessment to gather information and provide a well written report offering guidance for designing and developing training with respect to technology, methodologies, approach, sequence, timing, and specific strategies
    • Interviewing skills to effectively engage with stakeholders and SME's to inform content and design decisions
    • Research skills for creative content delivery and best-fit learning methods
    • Content analysis skills and the ability to demonstrate confidence in your training expertise
    • Training design expertise to align products with client expectations for learning objectives, skill transfer, and participant engagement needs
    • Expertise to prepare all course design and support materials such as course outlines, storyboards, job aids, scenarios, scripts, style guide, etc.
    • Excellent writing skills, demonstrated through a variety of training materials, such as Instructor Guides, Outlines, Narration Scripts, Needs Assessment Report, and Surveys
    • Knowledge and capabilities for incorporation of 508 and SCORM compliance within eLearning design and development

    TECHNICAL SKILLS:

    • Strong technical knowledge and abilities to utilize ELEARNING SOFTWARE SUCH AS ADOBE CAPTIVATE, ARTICULATE STORYLINE AND/OR LECTORA for eLearning design and development, seeing the project through from outlines to storyboards and scripts to coordination for production and launch
    • Skills to gather technical requirements and constraints for project development, including requirements relative to 508, SCORM and LMS compliance
    • Media expertise sufficient to accurately describe to a media specialist the need for video, image selection, and closed captioning
    • Ability to apply technical knowledge for integration of appropriate photos, graphics and video
    • Demonstrated experience creating short videos, and recording and editing audio narrations
    • Basic to intermediate graphic design skills to include and tailor various graphics (images, clipart, etc.) to the project
    • Innovative application of instructional technology with 508 compliance
    • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, including PPT and WORD, and abilities to design spreadsheets in Excel

    CONSULTING AND COLLABORATION SKILLS:

    • Ability and desire to work well on a team, leveraging the differing strengths of client SME's and collaborating with both client representatives and an EMI Training Project Manager
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to develop strong collaborative relationships with client project teams, as well as EMI project teams
    • Excellence in providing customer service and developing and maintaining strong client relationships
    • Ability to take initiative and ownership of each project assignment with focus on continuous improvement
    • Efficient management of multiple tasks with competing and changing priorities, proactive planning for and anticipation of client business needs in order to ensure smooth operations and the completion of projects on time and within budget
    • Flexibility and commitment to be responsive to client needs and pacing while supporting project and contract requirements
    • Ability and willingness to address conflict and communicate project boundaries professionally and productively
    • Ability to support EMI with marketing and business development through involvement in meetings, proposal development, and update of marketing materials

    PREFERRED CAPABILITIES, FOR ADVANCED POSITIONS:

    • Ability and experience to conduct and lead a formal training needs assessment, engaging with varied stakeholders in a planned and thorough process
    • Ability and experience to utilize needs assessment to complete a gap analysis and determine training needs and opportunities
    • Strong experience and skills writing formal reports which summarize project findings, analyses, and deliverables
    • Strong business acumen and consulting skills to use Instructional Design subject matter expertise interfacing with clients, serving client needs while ascertaining and maintaining appropriate project boundaries with respect to scope, timeline and budget
    • eLearning Project Management
    • Utilization and knowledge of a wide range of communications activities, including development of web pages and eLearning
    • Technical expertise to address issues through online systems, i.e. SharePoint, Google Drive, etc.
    • Problem solving skills related to eLearning development tasks, including software technical issues and web or learning management systems issues
    • Knowledge of appropriate integration of learning and development approaches with process improvement, strategic human resource management programs, and organizational change, including organization development initiatives

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE - ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • 5+ years of applicable, formal instructional design experience, using relevant Instructional Design models and eLearning software for design, development and evaluation. Must include substantial experience developing course outlines and storyboards and writing scripts.
    • Masters level degree in a related field or 3-5 years of applicable experience in its place
    • Degree in instructional design, instructional technology, or closely related discipline preferred

    PREFERRED EXPERIENCE, FOR ADVANCED POSITIONS:

    • 2+ years as a full-time Lead Instructional Designer on an eLearning project with multiple instructional designers and interfacing directly with the primary client contact
    • Has served as a Project Manager on eLearning projects with responsibilities for managing scope, budget, timeline, some personnel, roles and responsibilities, vendor relationships and communication with the client
    • Experience designing, leading and conducting two or more in-depth training Needs Assessments, writing formal reports on the assessments with recommendations
