    Job Description

    This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone in the Vandenberg Air Force Base/Lompoc area looking for work as a Network Engineer. This position is Full Time and Temp to Hire, with the hours from 7:30 am – 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. The pay rate for this position is $55-70/hr (DOE).     JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

     

    • · Maintains computing network Windows environment by identifying network requirements; installing upgrades; and monitoring network performance.
    • · Serves as subject matter expert and configures and supports the data center environment consisting of routers, switches, and firewalls devices.
    • · Systematically troubleshoot level 3 technical issues and/or complex application, system, and/or network issues including availability, utilization, throughput, and latency; planning and executing the selection, installation, configuration, and testing of equipment; defining network policies and procedures; establishing connections and firewalls.
    • · Maintains network performance by performing network monitoring and analysis, and performance tuning.
    • · Analyzes systems and prepares supporting documentation for performance, stability, interoperability and systems management/life cycle issues.
    • · Applies methods and techniques to assist in the development, implementation and documentation of impact assessments, architecture change recommendations and CONOPS change recommendations.
    • · Establishes network specifications, implements, monitors, and support TCP/IP local and wide-area networks.
    • · Establishes network specifications, implements, monitor, and support enterprise data network, network security, and disaster recovery solutions.
    • · Establishes network specifications by conferring with users; analyzing workflow, access, information, and security requirements; designing router administration, including interface configuration and routing protocols.
    • · Secures network by developing network access, monitoring, control, and evaluation; maintaining documentation.
    • · Design, install, and support computer systems, local-area networks (LAN), network segments, Internet and Intranet systems, IP protocol, active directory and Windows system administration.
    • · Maintains Remote Access and VPNs.
    • · Support the identification of upgrade requirements consistent with the datacenter architecture, coordinates hardware, software and specialty engineering by developing, testing, evaluating, and installing enhancements in order to meet the customer’s requirements.
    • · Participates in the design and development of integrated solutions to meet customer requirements.
    • · Other duties as assigned

     

     

    SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

    • · Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Technology or related experience.
    • · Minimum of 8 years of experience in related field.
    • · Current Security+ or DoD 8570 Certification (CISSP) or ability to obtain certification within six (6) months of start date
    • · Current Network+ and Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or be able to obtain within (6) six months of employment
    • · Knowledge of Internet Protocols, communication protocols, data and network security
    • · Experience working with design principles and applications
    • · Experience required in the following areas:
      • o Windows Based Scripts
      • o PowerShell scripting
      • o DoD NOTAM and STIG compliance
      • o SQL Server
      • o Windows Server
      • o Windows Fire Walling
      • o Shell Scripting
      • o Visual Studio
      • o Network Timing Familiarization NTP
      • o Hyper Terminal Secure Shell
      • o Wireless implementation and maintenance
    • · Strong organizational skills with ability to effectively manage competing demands, prioritize appropriately, and oversee multiple tasks simultaneously
    • · Strong communication skills (verbal, written, facilitation) with strong presentation and facilitation skills
    • · Strong at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential
    • · Strong analytical and problem solving skills
    • · Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines
    • · Strong technical skills.
    • · Strong communication skills, written and oral, to interact with team members and customers.
    • · Experience in a team environment.
    • · The flexibility to work occasional non-duty hours or on weekends.
    • · Ability to travel 10%.
    • · The flexibility to work occasional non-duty hours or on weekends to support specific project or mission requirements
    • · Must have and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance, which includes U.S. citizenship or U.S. naturalization
    • · Valid U.S. Driver’s License required
