  • Responsibilities

    Job Description

    • Meet with youth and adults where they are on the streets and in public locations; providing crisis information and safety planning, and transporting youth to an emergency shelter or another safe place to stay.
    • Respond to immediate needs of youth through the distribution of food, clothing, hygiene items, survival aids and personal hygiene items; shelter referrals; case management services; and distribution of SOP/Safe Place/National Runaway SafeLine resource cards;
    • Provide direct access to youth and adult shelters 24 hours/day;
    • Provide crisis intervention, support & referrals through a youth hotline & social media;
    • Provide access/ referrals to health care - medical, dental & mental health;
    • Provide access/ referrals to drop-in center services, including food, hygiene items, showers and laundry facilities.
    • Take part in the Point In Time count as well as other youth community counts
    • Conducts youth assessments and creates and updates case records which include client residential location and living conditions, employment history/prospects; general psychosocial and criminal history.
    • Obtains relevant social history, performs needs and safety assessment for shelter clients as they enter the housing program. Prepares service plan, assists in completion of personalized safety plan.
    • Networks with other service providers and justice officials to facilitate client services and community response.
    • Maintains positive relationships with local Job Service and other job referral agencies and community resources and acts of liaison with local employers.
    • Accompanies clients to meetings with law enforcement agencies, lawyers' offices, medical providers or other social service programs as needed. Accompanies clients or arranges for accompaniment to court hearings. When needed
    • Provides current information on community resources to other staff.
    • Assists supervisor in training staff and volunteer as needed.
    • Documents case management activity and other client contacts in client files in a timely manner.
    • Input touch-points (case notes, touches, referrals, etc.) into the HMIS (ETO)
    • Assist with media marketing in the community and attend general council CoC meetings
    • Assist with pick up and distribution of donated goods for RHY and families
    • Other assigned tasks as needed
    • Provide individual assessments and counseling/support services for youth identified as experiencing sexual exploitation, human trafficking, substance abuse, physical and/or sexual abuse, mental health issues;
    • Participate in the regular staff meetings on each client
    • Provide feedback to team on client's progress toward goals
    • Other duties may be assigned
    • Provide life skills workshops and group activities on:
      • work readiness skills & financial literacy
      • recognizing exploitative and abusive relationships
      • fitness and recreation
      • arts and self-expression
      • substance abuse prevention
      • awareness of community resources
      • Other duties may be assigned
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is preferred; behavioral health or social work
    • Be knowledgeable of working with vulnerable populations
    • Be knowledgeable of community resources and experience in working with outside agencies
    • Meet requirements for Central Registry Background Checks.
    • Must have a Texas driver's license
    • Bilingual Spanish-a plus!
    • Must be able to perform duties in a timely manner
    • Involves a high degree of alertness
    • Must be able to work under stressful conditions
    • Must be able to work with youth with varying degrees of behavior and other issues
