    Job Description

    POSITION: Community Training Specialist

    REPORT TO: Program Manager

    WORK LOCATION: 420 East Hyde Park Blvd. Inglewood CA 90032, Veteran's Park, and community sites

    COMPENSATION: $13.25 to $17.00 Depending on Experience

    SCHEDULE: Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The Training Specialist will work with a group of participants to integrate them into the community and enhance their quality of life as a valued member of society.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

    • Provide direct supervision, training and evaluation of participants assigned to a community based activity.
    • Teach new skills identified in the individual program plan (IPP) including but not limited to self-help, communication, gross motor, fine motor, vocational, employment, cognitive skills, social-emotional skills, health and community access
    • Provide supervision during participant arrival, departure and lunchtime
    • Provide behavioral intervention to participants through appropriate methods as designated through NCI training and overall goals.
    • Assist participants as needed with personal hygiene including toileting, illness and incidents of incontinence.
    • Use public transportation or ECF van to transport participants to community activity.
    • Serve as a job coach for participants in paid work or volunteer placement in community-based sites
    • Maintain vehicle logs and regular check of maintenance reporting any issues immediately.
    • Maintain all program equipment used regularly such as cell phones, backpacks, log books, walkie-talkies, yoga mats, etc.
    • Maintain timely participant documentation as directed by case manager to include, but not limited to, monthly, quarterly evaluations and case note reporting
    • Attend in-service trainings and staff meetings.

    OTHER DUTIES:

    1. Comply with ECF’s Injury and illness Prevention Program. Ensure safe use and operation of tools and/or equipment.

    2. Comply with ECF policies and procedures, including mandated reporting requirements.

    3. Regular and reliable attendance is required for this position.

    4. Perform other duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    EDUCATION/LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS: High School diploma or GED equivalent.

    EXPERIENCE: One year working with individual’s with special needs.

    KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILLS:

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to communicate effectively with clients to provide direction and understand their needs.
    • Detail oriented with excellent document skills
    • Patience and compassion to work with individuals with a variety of special needs.
    • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
    • Ability and willingness to drive ECF van.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Valid California Class C Driver’s License, reliable transportation, evidence of car insurance, and insurable driving record. May be required to obtain a Class B driver’s license within the first 3 months of employment.
    • Pass a DOJ background investigation.
    • Provide evidence of a negative TB test and pass a pre-employment physical.
    • Obtain NCI, Medication Administration, and First Aid and CPR certification within the first 3 months of employment and maintain as required.
