JOB SUMMARY

As a Software Engineer, it's your duty to meet with prospective clients we send your way to see if they'd like you to work their project. Your meetings will be on Skype or by phone unless the client requests otherwise.

You'll need to convince them that you're the best person for the job. (Hint: You do that by just discussing their project with them, not talking about you unless they ask.)

Once our prospective client agrees to work with you, your manager will handle the paperwork so you can start work on their project.

The particulars of your work are up to you, but we recommend using Trello for collaborating with the clients, and BitBucket to privately store your code while giving clients access to your code.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

·         Develop reliable systems that are scalable, and maintain current software to ensure its effectiveness and efficiency.

·         Optimize user effectiveness, and seek and process feedback to determine areas of improvement and other changes that could further enhance the user experience.

·         Research and evaluate new types of technology to assess their feasibility and implementation in accordance with company objectives.

·         Create organized and accessible ways to document code and track changes in software including updates for future reference and use.

·         Perform regular unit tests to determine the effectiveness of current software and to catch glitches that could slow or hamper organizational growth.

·         Educate Clients about how to use various software, while ensuring their understanding and accessibility.

·         Work as an individual contributor and manage projects with clients.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

·         Clean, modular, maintainable code - It doesn't matter so much which languages you develop software in, as long as it's extremely clean.

·         Popular programming languages - PHP is the easiest language to find projects for, but many clients are starting new websites, and you could use a different language

·         Excellent communication skills and client facing skills

·         Ability to work independently and manage projects.
