    Position Summary: The Executive Director is responsible for the overall leadership, strategic direction, and operational management of a Substance Use Disorder (SUD) treatment center serving individuals and families in the Greater Richmond area. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based care while maintaining compliance with all state, federal, and payer regulations. The Executive Director will oversee clinical, administrative, and operational departments, develop community partnerships, manage budgets, and support a culture of accountability and client-centered care.

    Key Responsibilities: Leadership & Strategy ● Provide visionary leadership to drive the mission, vision, and values of the organization. ● Collaborate with the CEO and leadership team on long-term strategic planning. ● Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary leadership team, including clinical, operations, and support staff.

    Program Oversight ● Ensure the effective delivery of all treatment services including PHP, IOP, OP, and supportive services. ● Oversee program development and implementation of best practices in SUD treatment. ● Monitor performance metrics and outcomes to ensure service quality and continuous improvement.

    Regulatory & Compliance ● Maintain compliance with DBHDS licensing standards, DMAS/Medicaid regulations, CARF or Joint Commission accreditation requirements, and applicable local, state, and federal laws. ● Oversee audits, corrective action plans, and ensure staff training aligns with compliance needs.

    Finance & Operations ● Develop and manage the annual budget in coordination with the CEO and finance department. ● Monitor financial performance, manage expenses, and ensure efficient use of resources. ● Evaluate and optimize operational workflows to support program efficiency and growth.

    Community Engagement & Partnerships ● Serve as the face of the organization in the local community and with key stakeholders. ● Build and maintain strong relationships with referral partners, regulatory agencies, payers, and other community-based organizations. ● Represent the program at public events, conferences, and meetings when appropriate.

    Staff Development & Culture ● Foster a positive, professional, and trauma-informed workplace culture. ● Oversee recruitment, training, performance evaluation, and retention strategies for all staff. ● Promote staff development and ensure ongoing education in evidence-based practices and cultural competency.

    Qualifications: ● Minimum of 5 years of senior-level leadership experience in behavioral health, preferably in SUD treatment settings. ● Strong knowledge of Virginia’s DBHDS licensing process, DMAS billing requirements, and Medicaid managed care systems. ● Proven track record in program growth, regulatory compliance, and staff leadership. ● Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

    Preferred Qualifications: ● Experience managing multi-level care programs (e.g., PHP, IOP, residential, MAT). ● Familiarity with CARF or Joint Commission standards. ● Experience working with vulnerable populations and delivering trauma-informed care. ● Understanding of value-based care models and outcome measurement in behavioral health.

    Work Conditions: ● On-site, full-time presence required. ● Occasional evenings/weekends as needed for events, emergencies, or meetings. ● Requires use of computer systems, electronic health records, and standard office software.
