Job Title: Executive Sous Cjhef Department: Culinary Company: Goodstone Inn & Restaurant Reports To: Executive Chef
Job Summary: At Goodstone, we are committed to culinary excellence, innovation, and teamwork. As the Executive Sous Chef, you will serve as the right hand to the Executive Chef, leading the Bistro and Special Events culinary operations. You will oversee all aspects of food preparation, staff supervision, and kitchen management, ensuring the highest quality, safety, and service standards. This role demands strong leadership, creativity, and the ability to perform under pressure in a fine-dining and event-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Partner with the Executive Chef in strategic menu planning, recipe development, and culinary innovation.
Lead daily kitchen operations, ensuring excellence in à la carte and banquet food production and presentation.
Supervise, mentor, and train culinary staff, fostering a culture of high performance, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Enforce and uphold food safety, sanitation, and cleanliness standards across all kitchen areas.
Oversee inventory management, food cost control, and procurement to ensure efficiency and budget adherence.
Maintain and monitor kitchen equipment for safety, cleanliness, and operational readiness.
Act as the culinary team leader in the absence of the Executive Chef, ensuring seamless service and guest satisfaction.
Collaborate with other departments to ensure flawless execution of events and dining experiences.
Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years of progressive culinary experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role within a fine dining or upscale restaurant.
Proven ability to lead and inspire a team in a high-pressure, high-standard environment.
Strong culinary skills with a keen eye for detail and presentation.
In-depth knowledge of kitchen operations, food safety protocols, and equipment handling.
Food Safety Manager Certification preferred.
Passion for hospitality and a commitment to excellence in guest service.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Support the Executive Chef in managing the full culinary team, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management.
Guide and uphold standards in food production, sanitation, and cost control.
Promote a positive, team-oriented culture that aligns with Goodstone’s values and service standards.
