Exelixis is embarking on a 3-year Technology Roadmap implementation and the Digital Transformation function is looking for an Intern in the Program Management Office team to help drive the Enterprise Technology programs and associated investments
This role will partner closely with the Associate Program Management Director and act as a functioning member of the PMO (Program Management Office) team to help achieve team goals and objectives. As part of this role, the intern will have the opportunity to learn about various functions of a Biotech company and their technology needs. The role will assist in establishing appropriate tools / frameworks & processes for one or more areas of focus for the PMO team. The role is based in our Alameda, CA location.
Qualifications
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Manage one or multiple projects to support the PMO team from start to finish, managing tasks, risks and issue resolutions, communications, and implementation • Understand the strategic priorities of the Digital Transformation team and map them to the project management capabilities required to meet those priorities • Identify and champion best practices in Program Management, including the use of agendas, minutes, dashboards, maintain document repository, establish, and implement templates, tools, and processes to drive efficiency, alignment, communication, and effective planning • Facilitate decision-making, collaboration, and problem-solving with people at all levels of the organization to accomplish shared program goals • Prepare a presentation at the end of Internship to summarize their accomplishments and learnings SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: If applicable, also address the type of supervisory responsibility that is expected from this role. Detail the extent of the job’s authority to hire, discipline, terminate, assign work, train, and evaluate performance of subordinates. The following lists various levels of supervision: • none
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS: Education: • Actively pursuing a Bachelors or Advanced degree in computer science, engineering or related discipline
Experience/The Ideal Candidate will have: • 2+ years of software engineering, systems engineering, or technical program management experience • Project management skills, particularly the ability to handle multiple priorities and workstreams • Proven track-record / experience in delivering results in a fast-paced environment Knowledge/Skills: • Strong organizational skills with demonstrated project management experience • Technical background and experience in producing technical requirements and execution plans • Strong analytical skills and capable of tackling complex data to derive actionable insights from it • Goal-oriented with an ownership mentality and ability to operate autonomously with limited guidance • Good communicator - effectively collaborate with multiple stakeholders in both written and verbal form • Comfortable with the fast pace of a rapidly growing startup like environment • Committed to personal and professional growth, with a constant desire to improve and create value • Desired to be proficient in Microsoft Office; any experience with Smartsheet, JIRA, Confluence a plus WORKING CONDITIONS: Alameda: • Environment: primarily working indoors, performing clerical work
