    Job Description

    We are looking for a highly motivate Research Associate with proficient experience in molecular biology.  This candidate will responsible for protein expression DNA constructs design, generation, sequence confirmation, and plasmids amplification etc. in support for generation of milligram to sub-gram scale quantities of recombinant proteins to support small molecules high throughput screen, and Structure Biology for protein crystallization.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  •    Perform and/or coordinate the generation of DNA constructs tailored for the expression of recombinant proteins. •    Produce recombinant DNA clones and plasmids using modern molecular biology protocols. Prepare transfection grade DNA for recombinant protein expression. •    Maintain DNA and glycerol stock inventories. •    Prepares and organizes data for presentation using analysis and visualization software; presents data and reports on project status at individual, group, and departmental research meetings under general supervision. •    Maintain familiarity with current scientific literature relevant to the research experiments or program. •    Maintain laboratory notebook in a complete, consistent, and concise manner in accordance with company intellectual property policies and practices. •    Adhere to good health and safety practices and compliance with applicable EH&S rules, and participating in mandatory safety training programs. •    Perform additional tasks or assist with special projects as assigned or needed.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: •    None    

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:   Education: •    Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) in related discipline and four to six years of relevant experience; or •    Master’s degree (M.A./M.S.) in related discipline and two to four years of relevant experience; or •    Equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Experience: •    Strong hands on skill in the field of modern molecular biology. •    Experience of managing vendor to perform DNA sequencing is desired.  •    Experience in protein expression (small scale) in mammalian/BEVS /E coli culture systems is a plus. •    Experience with protein purification (protein pull-down using the appropriate protein/resin interaction and protein chemistry) is a plus. •    Experience writing protocols and maintaining detailed laboratory notebooks. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: •    Proficiency with molecular biology software such as SnapGene and Sequencher is must. •    Proficiency with computer software including MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel is preferred. •    Ability to design protein expression construct with mammalian/BEVS/bacterial as protein expression host.  •    Ability to perform standard molecular biology including PCR, subclone GOI into expression vector, plasmid transformation, plasmid amplification, submitting samples for DNA sequencing etc.  •    Ability to access protein/DNA quality/quantity.   •    Ability to juggle multiple tasks of varying priorities and function in a fast-paces environment. •    Ability to plan ahead, anticipate bottlenecks and potential risks and then communicate accordingly. •    Ability to organize assignments and to work within deadlines.  •    Ability to work independently while also willing to follow protocols. •    Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and scientific articles.  Writes routine reports and correspondence. •    Ability to multi-task in a fast-pace dynamic environment while delivering high quality work.  •    Sets goals with understanding of priority and impact to the program, department and organization.  •    A solid understanding and the working knowledge of molecular and cell biology techniques as applied to expression vector design and production.   •    Demonstrates excellent work ethic, strong self-motivation, and ability to work effectively in a either a team environment or independently.
