    Starting Salary Range : The annual starting salary range for this position will be in the $44,378-$51,417range, depending on experience, education, and skills relevant to the position. Please note that the indicated starting salary range describes the range for an incumbent in this position. Most new staff generally start at the beginning of the range percentile to ensure internal salary equity.

    Program Summary:

    Ancestral Lands Conservation Corps (ALCC) is a program of Conservation Legacy (CL). ALCC provides conservation service opportunities for indigenous youth, young adults, and recent-era military veterans in Colorado, New Mexico, and Arizona and works with other Native American communities and conservation corps across the country to provide similar opportunities. Our vision is to lead our Nations back to ecological and cultural well-being and we do this by empowering individuals to positively impact their lives, their communities, and the environment. ALCC crews are supported from operational bases in Acoma Pueblo, Albuquerque, Zuni Pueblo, Gallup, and Kykotsmovi (Hopi) and we have an Individual Placement program that serves the region and nation. **

    Position Summary:

    The ALCC Program Manager (PM) is responsible for the execution and overall quality of all programming and operations run out of individual ALCC offices. The PM is responsible for supervision of field and/or program staff of the office they oversee. The PM manages programmatic details of the office they work in, serves as the information/communication hub for other ALCC staff, oversees operational support of crews, works with the program and Corps director to coordinate staff who provide support to crews in the field, and maintains timely and effective communication with project partners. The PM will be responsible for project reporting as delegated by the directors.

    The position is approximately 75% office-based and 25% field based, with field visits that may include overnight stays. A strong and consistent field presence will be required from the PM, including training, lining out projects, conducting site visits, and supporting crews in the field on technical projects. The PM must be available for emergency trips to the field.

    Required Skills

    Recruitment

    • Develop and implement a crew member and crew leader recruitment strategy.
    • Establish and maintain a database of all recruiting contacts.
    • Coordinate recruiting visits to schools, community partners, etc.
    • Interview, select, & place AmeriCorps Members and Crew Leaders to fill all open positions.
    • Facilitate and manage the submission of all corps member selection, onboarding, and AmeriCorps paperwork.

    Field Support

    • Supervise Program Coordinator, Crew Leaders, Field Supervisors, and other Field Staff as needed.
    • Ensure project quality and mentor field staff by providing technical expertise, guidance, and emotional support to crews in the field. Identify positive working solutions to crew management issues.
    • Model risk management procedures in the field to create a safe working environment.
    • Lead post-hitch check-ins with crew leaders, including collection and review of reporting paperwork, surveys, Incident Reports, and accomplishments.
    • Enforce all Ancestral Lands Conservation Corps and Conservation Legacy policies and procedures.
    • Comfort & flexibility with an ever-shifting work schedule.
    • Respond to crew emergency situations.
    • Participate in an on-call system for crews in the field.

    Training and Project Support

    • Assist program staff to develop and implement training including technical trails, chainsaw, herbicide application, leadership, and facilitation skills.
    • Work with project partners to schedule, create hitch details and prepare crews for project specs.
    • Manage a project from planning to completion, specifically, we are looking for someone who has strong technical conservation experience with the ability to manage multi-year projects.
    • Develop and maintain partnerships with community and agency partners.

    Program Development

    • Maintain and strengthen the partnership between local partners and ALCC including program development, project development, reporting, and renewal of funding.
    • Develop innovative programs that meet the needs and strengths of the communities and participants we serve and help ALCC meet our mission.
    • Coordinate, facilitate and oversee implementation of local project work
    • Apply or assist with the application for eligible grants and fundraising campaigns to support programming.
    • Manage grant budget(s) and partnership between funders, program, and grant support staff.
    • Develop a long-term support strategy for members and alumni in mutual partnership with partners.
    • Develop a long-term plan for the direction of the program and support sources. **

    General Administration

    • Work with ALCC Administrative Director to update multiple databases for recruitment, selection, onboarding, payroll, timesheets, and AmeriCorps information.

    • Manage and maintain accurate reporting of all necessary information and complete program reports including field site visits, recruiting notes, and accomplishments

    • Work within an established program budget; manage credit cards, receipts, and financial reporting

    • Assist ALCC directors with reporting

    • Work closely with administrative staff to ensure compliance of paperwork tasks and AmeriCorps requirements.

    • Track expenditures to ensure we are staying within approved budgets.

    Other Duties

    Required Experience

    Physical Requirements:

    Qualifications:

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in youth development or corps field.
    • Minimum 3 years’ experience in all or most of the following: trail construction & maintenance, chainsaw operation & maintenance, hand tool maintenance, fencing, historic preservation, agriculture, herbicide application, backcountry travel, with a strong emphasis placed on multiple years of previous trail construction and maintenance experience.
    • Valid CPR and Wilderness First Aid certification and/or willingness to earn a Wilderness First Responder certification.
    • Experience with influencing diverse groups of employees to achieve common goals.
    • The ability to carry out assigned work independently or with minimal supervision.
    • Ability to work well with others and to seek assistance when needed to carry out assignments
    • Familiarity with Microsoft Office programs and applications, or similar platforms.
    • Ability to keep others, in remote locations, accountable to expectations.
    • Ability to successfully work in a fluid, changing work environment.
