The Director of Finance and Personnel for the UMOnline is the chief financial officer for the unit and, as such, has fiduciary responsibilities for all funds allocated to UMOnline, including restricted, designated, and University of Montana (UM) Foundation accounts; all told, UMOnline is about a $3M operation. The Director serves as the liaison between UMOnline and the Office of the Provost, Human Resource Services, Planning Budget & Analysis, the University of Montana Foundation, and other UM administrative offices as needed. The Director often directly supervises, but at minimum oversees the work, for all department administrative support personnel who assist in the areas of fiscal and personnel matters.
The Finance Director independently develops and manages budgets, including planning, assessing, forecasting, consulting, and reporting for UMOnline. The position reports directly to the Director of Academic Budgets and Personnel with a dotted line relationship to the Associate Vice President for Innovation and Online Learning (AVPIOL). The Finance Director will work closely with and in response to fiscal planning needs and goals specified by the AVPIOL. The position is accountable to the Director and AVPIOL for all fiscal and personnel procedures of UM and policies of the Montana University System (MUS).
