Supervising Actuary (Life) - Disability Fund
Responsibilities:
- Conduct actuarial pricing and reserving calculations for disability insurance and Paid Family Leave, ensuring compliance with regulations.
- Estimate the impact of regulatory changes on the Disability Benefits Fund (DBF).
- Represent NYSIF in industry committees and provide actuarial support.
- Oversee all actuarial calculations and recommend pricing strategies.
- Supervise actuarial and non-actuarial staff.
- Analyze trends, develop financial reports, and propose rate changes.
- Calculate premium returns and monitor profitability.
- Evaluate new products and contracts, developing models to support decision-making.
- Provide guidance on actuarial techniques to business partners.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Completion of SOA examinations MLC, MFE, and additional exams, or Enrolled Actuary status.
- Five years of actuarial experience in relevant fields.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate or Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (ASA, FSA).
- Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA).
