Supervising Actuary (Life) - Disability Fund

Responsibilities:

• Conduct actuarial pricing and reserving calculations for disability insurance and Paid Family Leave, ensuring compliance with regulations.
• Estimate the impact of regulatory changes on the Disability Benefits Fund (DBF).
• Represent NYSIF in industry committees and provide actuarial support.
• Oversee all actuarial calculations and recommend pricing strategies.
• Supervise actuarial and non-actuarial staff.
• Analyze trends, develop financial reports, and propose rate changes.
• Calculate premium returns and monitor profitability.
• Evaluate new products and contracts, developing models to support decision-making.
• Provide guidance on actuarial techniques to business partners.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Completion of SOA examinations MLC, MFE, and additional exams, or Enrolled Actuary status.
• Five years of actuarial experience in relevant fields.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Associate or Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (ASA, FSA).
• Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA).
