    Job Title: Expeditor, SD

    Pay Rate: $18.94/hr to $28.40/hr (depending on experience)

    Job Summary:

    The Expeditor is responsible for ensuring the timely flow of materials to support customer orders and inventory requirements. This position coordinates purchase order expediting, receiving activities, inventory transfers, freight logistics, and supplier communication while serving as a liaison between Sales, Warehouse Operations, suppliers, branch locations, and freight carriers. The role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to customer service.

    Required Essential Job Functions/Duties:

    Purchase Order Expediting & Supplier Coordination

    • Review backorders and open purchase orders daily to ensure materials are delivered on schedule.
    • Expedite late purchase orders and follow up with suppliers regarding shipment delays, shortages, and order discrepancies.
    • Trace delayed shipments through freight carriers and coordinate corrective actions.
    • Maintain accurate expediting records, including ship date changes, order cancellations, certifications, and test report updates.
    • Communicate with suppliers and internal departments to resolve material availability and delivery issues.

    Receiving & Inventory Control

    • Enter purchase orders and receiving transactions into the PICK system.
    • Reconcile received materials with purchase orders, packing lists, and related documentation.
    • Investigate and resolve receiving discrepancies, including quantity variances, missing paperwork, damaged goods, and certification issues.
    • Obtain missing packing lists, certifications, test reports, and other required documentation from suppliers.
    • Coordinate with Sales and Warehouse personnel regarding receiving concerns and material requirements.

    Transfer Management

    • Process and enter inventory transfers into the PICK system.
    • Coordinate transfer activities between branch locations.
    • Monitor transfer shipments and follow up on delayed, missing, or damaged materials.
    • Verify outbound transfer materials and maintain accurate transfer records.
    • Release and administer transfer and purchase order materials to support customer sales orders.

    Freight Coordination & Logistics

    • Obtain freight quotes and identify cost-effective transportation options.
    • Schedule freight pickups and coordinate transportation for inbound and outbound shipments.
    • Enter shipment information into carrier systems and prepare required shipping documentation.
    • Assist in locating carriers and resolving transportation-related issues.
    • Monitor shipment status and communicate delivery updates as needed.

    Customer Service & Sales Support

    • Respond to customer inquiries regarding order status, shipments, and material availability.
    • Perform stock checks and provide inventory updates to Sales personnel.
    • Coordinate with Sales, Warehouse Operations, and suppliers to support customer requirements.
    • Assist with printing and distributing test reports and certifications for customer orders and deliveries.

    Administrative Responsibilities

    • Maintain accurate records related to purchase orders, receiving transactions, transfers, freight activities, and expediting efforts.
    • Utilize the PICK system and carrier websites to process transactions and monitor shipments.
    • Prepare reports and documentation required to support operational activities.
    • Perform other related duties as assigned.

    ** Qualifications:**

    Required Qualifications

    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify and resolve discrepancies.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to interact professionally with suppliers, customers, freight carriers, and internal personnel.
    • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience in purchasing, expediting, logistics, inventory control, customer service, or supply chain operations.
    • Experience with ERP or inventory management systems, preferably PICK.

    Technical Skills

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
    • Experience with inventory management, order processing, and shipping systems.
    • Ability to utilize carrier websites and transportation platforms for freight coordination.
