    What you will accomplish:

    By joining Experience Columbus, you are part of a group working to enhance the quality of life for our community. We support the travel and tourism industry in providing jobs, bringing in tax dollars for improvement of services and infrastructure, and attracting facilities like restaurants, shops, festivals, and cultural and sporting venues that cater to both visitors and Columbus locals.

    As a Travel & Tourism Intern you will apply knowledge you're learning in coursework today, while contributing in a hands-on environment to fit your career objectives. You will serve as an essential part of the Destination Experience team by being an important point of contact with visitors and community partners. Interns are expected to work safely and to be dynamic in a fast-paced environment. In addition to operational responsibilities, all Interns in the company are expected to participate in learning opportunities, including company-led training, webinars and Experience Columbus Insider certification program. Interns will support the company's mission of creating amazing experiences for our visitors and clients.

    Daily responsibilities may include activities such as:

    1. Work in a variety of areas to learn about all the destination experience department program, as well as cross-department projects.

    2. Assist with all pre/post activities related to Customer Engagement client interaction for pre-planning meetings, pre-promotes, pre and post cons, exhibitor welcomes, and on-site information desks.

    3. Maintain accurate data in Simpleview, our Customer Relationship Management Database (CRM)

    4. Assist with the launch of our new, Experience Columbus Insider program during National Travel & Tourism Week (May 7-13)

    5. Help with a variety of events for EC and the GCSC, including but not limited to US Conference of Mayors (June), Community Camp (June), Community Cup (June)

    6. Team support and administrative tasks:

    · Coordinate mass mailings.

    · Manage inventory and re-stock client gifts and promotional materials.

    · Audit internal lists for accuracy

    · Highly organized and can handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

    · Excellent communicator with strong professional email etiquette, written and verbal skills

    · Proficient using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Sharepoint, Internet, and comfortable using social media in a professional or academic setting.

    · Comfortable working independently and in cross functional teams

    · Committed to learning and applying Diversity Equity Inclusion and Accessibility principles throughout the role

    · High level of comfort working with visitors and community partners

    · Passionate about the product (Columbus) and motivated to exceed expectations.

    · Able to dedicate a minimum of 30 hours per week from mid-May to late August 2023 (flexible based upon school schedule)

    · Able to occasionally attend client and Experience Columbus functions in the evening and rarely over the weekend – a plus

    · Enrolled in or recently (with 6 months) an Associates, Bachelor's or Master's degree in Tourism Management, Hospitality Administration, Business Administration, or relevant discipline

    · Experience in hospitality, travel, service, or customer-facing role with some leadership experience is preferred.

    · Minimum age of 18 years old

    Non-local interns must make arrangements for their own housing.
