Role Overview:

We are seeking an Experienced Application Software Engineer to join the engineering team supporting growing demands in the development of autonomous, self-propelled rail vehicles. This role is pivotal in advancing our software capabilities through the design and development of front-end and back-end user applications. This role includes the design and development of an industrial Android application to serve as the primary human-machine interface (HMI) for controlling and monitoring our autonomous rail cars via a ruggedized tablet.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design & Development: Design and develop the industrial Android application for vehicle operations, focusing on usability, reliability, and performance in an industrial environment
• Integration : Integrate the application with vehicle control systems, communicating with onboard software and hardware via defined interfaces and protocols.
• Testing & Validation: Test and validate software applications performance to ensure both operational and functional requirements are met
• Lifecycle Support: Address and resolve issues related to fielded systems, providing comprehensive support throughout the product lifecycle
• Innovation: Stay abreast of technological advancements and recommend potential applications and technology investments to enhance our solutions

• Work within dynamic teams of 3-10 members on diverse projects

About You:

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field
• 2 or more years of experience developing software applications, with a focus on Android or mobile application development
• 1-2+ years of developing user interfaces and creating customer-facing applications
• Proficiency in object-oriented languages such as Java, Kotlin, C#, C++, Python
• Experience with software design and development lifecycle, including testing and debugging
• Willingness to expand into technical areas beyond your area of expertise; ability to develop innovative and novel approaches
• Open-minded and comfortable working in a teaming environment or as an individual contributor
• Fluent in both written and verbal English
• U.S. Person (immigration or work visa sponsorship will not be provided )

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

• Experience developing applications for industrial controls or human-machine interfaces (HMI).

• Experience with communication protocols or APIs for interfacing with external systems.

• Experience developing applications for ruggedized tablets or embedded Android devices.

• Experience in directly applicable industry or projects, such as Rail, Electric Vehicles, or Unmanned Systems.

• Familiarity with Agile methodologies.

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility. Full time, based in St. Louis, MO.
