Job Summary
Earth Resources Corporation (ERC) seeks a dependable and experienced Heavy Civil Mechanic with expertise in yellow iron equipment, dump trucks, and light vehicles. This role is critical to the success of our operations, ensuring that all equipment is safe, reliable, and job-ready. The ideal candidate has strong diagnostic skills and hands-on experience with heavy earthmoving machinery, on-road dump trucks, and pickups or service trucks used across civil construction job sites.
Key Responsibilities
Diagnose, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on yellow iron equipment, on-road dump trucks, and light-duty vehicles (e.g., pickups and service trucks) in the shop and the field.
Inspect and repair diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, brakes, suspension, cooling systems, transmissions, and undercarriage components.
Perform safety inspections and ensure all work complies with company and regulatory standards.
Respond to equipment breakdowns on job sites to minimize downtime and ensure productivity.
Keep accurate maintenance records, log all repairs and parts used, and update fleet tracking software as required.
Assist with coordinating repairs with vendors or dealerships for specialized services.
Maintain proper inventory of tools, parts, and service equipment; report shortages to the supervisor.
Operate and test equipment as needed for diagnostics and post-repair verification.
Follow all safety protocols, wear proper PPE, and promote a safe work environment.
Required Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years’ experience repairing yellow iron equipment, dump trucks, and light-duty vehicles in a construction or heavy equipment environment.
Skilled in diesel engine repair, hydraulics, vehicle electrical systems, and mechanical diagnostics.
Valid driver’s license required; CDL is preferred or must be willing to obtain.
Must provide own tools appropriate for the position (specialty tools provided by the company).
Proficiency in reading technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and equipment schematics.
Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and respond to urgent repair needs in the field.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with fleet maintenance software or digital inspection tools.
Welding and fabrication experience is a plus.
OSHA 10/30 Certification or other relevant safety credentials.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
Must be able to kneel, bend, climb, and stand for extended periods.
