We are currently seeking an Experienced Paralegal/Legal Assistant to support our growing practice. This role is ideal for someone who is proactive, organized, tech-savvy, and passionate about helping families through complex legal matters. This is a full-time remote position with a preference for candidates based in California, given the client base and filing requirements. Applicants will be disqualified if directions are not followed Include a three-paragraph cover letter along with your resume to provide the following information: • Paragraph 1: Tell us what excites you the most about this position • Paragraph 2: Tell us why you are the person we should hire • Paragraph 3: Tell us your pay expectation and when you would be able to start Responsibilities: • Handle office correspondence and administrative tasks such as responding to emails and phone calls, communicating with opposing attorney offices, taking dictation, and letting the team know about upcoming deadlines • Accept other administrative tasks as needed to assist the team and ensure the firm runs smoothly • Conduct legal research, when necessary, with guidance from attorneys and paralegals • Work with attorneys and paralegals to create various legal documents, including pleadings, motions, subpoenas, affidavits, contracts, and briefs for case preparation, and proofread documents when requested • Process client billing properly using daily time records with help from the accounting department • Draft and file court documents for adoptions, limited conservatorships, and legal guardianships • Prepare engagement agreements and review them with new clients • Open and maintain physical and electronic files for clients • Request, organize, and save client records • Close client files at the end of the representation • Draft basic communications and letters • Proofread and filed attorney letters and briefs • Prepare and file documents with the court • Research issues and write legal memos • Provide administrative support to our legal team • Maintain practice and client confidentiality Qualifications: We’re looking for someone who is: • Experienced: 3+ years as a Paralegal/Legal Assistant (education law, family law, or litigation experience a plus) • Organized & Detail-Oriented: You spot errors others miss and keep cases moving without being micromanaged • Client-Focused: You are empathetic, responsive, and understand how to communicate with families in emotional or stressful situations • Tech-Savvy: You’re comfortable with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Zoom, and cloud-based legal tools (e.g., Clio or similar) • Resourceful & Proactive: You anticipate needs and solve problems before they arise • Strong Communicator: Clear, concise, and professional in both written and verbal interactions • Mission-Aligned: You genuinely care about children, families, and doing meaningful legal work Compensation: $25 - $30 hourly DOE
