    The Senior Systems Engineer has a strong technical background in multiple engineering disciplines. This position will interface closely with a tight-knit team of engineers across a broad range of technical areas that provide managed services to internal global customers. The ideal candidate will have a balance of breadth across engineering disciplines, depth and expertise in select areas, and practical real-life experience solving very complex problems while maintaining patience and professionalism in the most critical moments. The incumbent operates independently on complex assignments involving the analysis of both business and regulatory requirements, as well as the analysis of the individual technical implementations to maximize benefit to the business.

    This role requires an in depth knowledge of Active Directory, Federation, Linux, Storage, VMware ESX, Windows Server, and related system technologies.

    As a technical subject matter expert you will mentor system engineers, review existing and implement new solutions to meet business objectives. The incumbent will act as an internal team escalation point for systems requests and issues. Travel up to 15% maybe be required based on project needs.

    Responsibilities:

    • Ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability through best practiced design and implementation
    • Enforce application and system configuration standards through documentation and automation for lower-level support teams
    • Translate high-level design documentation into low-level system design for implementation
    • Perform advanced technical analysis and recommend IT systems purchases and upgrades as needed
    • Provide project coordination and write documentation for technology implementations
    • Track issues and business requests and conduct research on broad-based solutions and new features that meet user needs
    • Provide third level technical support of core systems and business applications; often requires management/coordination of outside vendors and internal subject matter experts
    • Investigate and diagnose problems in assigned trouble tickets, as well as identify and implement solutions; communicate resolutions back to team members and business users
    • Write scripts/programs to automate builds, application deployments, patching and maintenance, configuration updates, access provisioning, and other system administration functions
    • Build systems per specifications to meet availability and performance targets as outlined in service level agreements with business owners
    • Review system performance data and make suggestions to improve overall performance, as well as forecast future system needs based on trends
    • Follow all set procedures and policies pertaining to the Change Management System

    Required Skills:

    • 8+ years of related enterprise IT experience
    • Active Directory, ADFS, GPO's in a Windows Server environment
    • Authentication services: Active Directory, ADFS, Kerberos, LDAP
    • Hardware and software on virtualized Hybrid environments
    • Implementation of security systems and controls
    • Knowledge in at least one, preferably several scripting languages (PowerShell, Bash, Perl)
    • Microsoft Azure, DHCP, DNS, GPOs, MFA and PKI Services
    • RedHat within Microsoft Activity Directory Hybrid environments
    • RHEL and Windows virtualized systems on Cloud and OnPrem platforms (Cisco UCS, IBM AIX, Power System)
    • VMWare vCenter

     

    Desired Skills:

    • AIX and iSeries escalation support
    • EMC arrays such as VNX,VMAX, XtremIO and ECS
    • Enterprise Disaster Recovery implementation and management experience for Windows, AIX LPARs and RHEL Virtual Machines (SRM, Zerto, etc.)
    • Managing and troubleshooting file and block level data issues
    • Microsoft 0365
    • NetAPP , Isilon and IBM Storewise platforms
    • Network Firewall, LAN, VPN and WAN technologies
    • Storage Capacity and Performance Reporting
    • System Management and Patching tools (Satellite, WSUS, etc.)
    • Systems and Application Monitoring tools
    • Zoning practices, Merges and Smart Zones, on Cisco MDS and Brocade platforms

    Education:

    • Required knowledge and skills would typically be acquired through a Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field - preferred, but not required
    • Industry specific training and designations are a plus
