The Portfolio Analyst – CRT&S analyzes the Credit Risk Transfer deals placed in the market to provide insights to the underwriting teams in order for them to make pricing recommendations.
- Evaluates deal performance using internal models and provides estimates for returns under a variety of scenarios to enable pricing to be developed by underwriting teams.
- Fully understands the underlying portfolio metrics as well as the technical nature (strengths/weakness) of the risk models that produce them.
- Fully understands how risk variables affect results and provides guidance on Risk/return equation, relative value, economic capital, and impact of structural changes.
- Understands different capital regimes – rating agency, regulatory and economic. Develops methodologies and models for estimating deal economics and capital relief for new structures and products.
- Assists in creating Transaction Analytics Reports for senior management and other internal groups that may then be shared with third party clients.
- Develop analytical tools to support transaction pricing and portfolio surveillance.
- Keep abreast of the latest changes in U.S. housing and mortgage industry.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years experience in insurance or financial industry. Alternatively, Master’s degree with 3+ years of related experience.
- Experience of the single and multi-family business GSE CRT is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of quantitative methods and product pricing methodologies in the financial services or Mortgage industry.
- Strong understanding of financial analysis techniques and metrics including experience in pooling of assets, structuring of cash flows and modeling priority of payments.
- Ability to manipulate data with SAS, R or other equivalent tools, and experience with BI tools such as Power BI or Tableau
- Strong attention to detail, analytical and problem solving ability
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to deal effectively within and across departments
- Ability to make sound business recommendations based on evaluation of various, identifiable factors
